i thought it was common knowledge that drukqs was done in FL

no!!

to be honest, i think its a myth (perhaps the sequncer he
ueses has been developed by aliens), i mean, everytime i try
( and i fucking try my best ) to make a track, my sequncer
crashes, every sequncer under the mood i've tried, they all
fuck up.

it puts me off, and lately i've just not bothered, fucking
shit software.

don't get me started on cubase sx3, i'll get extremly angry.

who gives a shit is the answer. aphex is a great artist
because he probably could make an album like drukqs
in fl and a casio or something. having the gear doesn't
mean you'll come close. it's coming up with the music that
matters.

the richard d james album was made entirely on a apple mac.
seriously. proper fact. now check out my other thread on
Maxence Cyrin and tell me what you think

r40f

no one could make any music like that with what i've used to
far, it's simple fucking impossible.

there is just no way, the fucking software always crashes.

wow, you're right - i'm sure no one can use software.

tolstoyed

he must be using special software then.

r40f
i can use it alright, i mastered most of them, but that
doesn't fucking help.

have you any idea how many albums are made entirely with
software?

as for aphex, he often said he was writing his own software.
though that doesn't meany anything..

drumset that richard played himself.

maybe my machine is fucked, maybe i need a new harddrive -
i'll put xp on it, and never go on the internet with it.

I dont know, i've just had so bad luck with cubase and
mainly all sequncers, it's made me quite depressed infact,
i'd be making a song and suddenyl it would crash, loosing
all my work.

i used to save every 5 seconds on cubase because of this,
but as i started getting a little more complex, it would
take about 5 seconds to save, and really mess up the work
flow.

luckily, i've come accross tracktion, it's alright, it's the
most stable one i've come accross so far, but it's really
fiddly for automation.

what the fuck are you on about, you must be doing something
extremely wrong to make everything crash like that... i
rarely experience crashing, and i've used tons of different
sequencers and synthesis software.

maybe you should just quit computers and buy some synths and
drum machines.

i know the reoccurding question is always 'what software
does he use'

I'm not going into that, but what i do want to know, is why
the hell my machine is so unstable when using cubase and the
likes.. i've just had so many bad experinces with it i'm
basicaly anti-cubase now, and won't touch it.

i think it's because your slobber keeps short circuiting the
keyboard, forcing it to send illegal commands to your cpu...
makes it go bananas.

staz

maybe its because im genreally really unlucky.

i mean, look at me.. i was born, friday 13th, having a
loverly bloody horror film made from it... my pin number is
basicaly all conbinations of 3,6,9 etc. My credit card
number contains 9, 6's. .. fuck, there's tons more, but
yeah.. i am genreally pretty unlucky.

personally, i only use a commodore 64 and a box of tic tacs
to make all my tracks. i use commands in special program i
wrote:

"BOOT MUSIC"

then it loads it, then i'm like

RUN SNARE RUSH
RUN LUSH MELODIES
GO 170 STOP

and it churns out shit like drukqs in mere hours

hmm. i listen to hard normal daddy, go plastic, hab, saw1,
rdj, autechre live, and shit loads of others a hell of a
lot more than drukqs. I'd put on mettphace, mt st micheals
etc in an aul mix now and then but a single sitdown of
druikqs is very unsatisfying.. and i;m a massive RDJ fan....
he's done a lot better... the analords for example in my
opinion.

Much of druqs is just to clanky. and badly structured for
me. It defo feels like a pick and mix of quickly put togther
tracks.

sorry about that!

...or maybe not tonight actually, since i wanted to try the
richard d james album again after years of me being bored of
it (it had become boring for me really quickly after i
discovered it) and i suddenly like it again.

i still don't think it's aphex twin's masterpiece at all,
but it's pretty good.

also, i'm going to search for a new avatar.

Drukqs is still as godly as it was when it first came out.

Definately his best production - most epic songs - most
attention to detail - most headbanging tracks

all his other albums fall short in comparison

then - first time I heard DRUKQS - I was thinking: metallic,
cold, peppermint, hit, ice, rush, milk, sperm, antique,
beautiful tits with pale pink nipples, warm kiss, saliva.
well... after 5 (?) years I think the same :) I love this
record :)

Acrid Jam is awesome but comparing his albums as a whole
drukqs is on top - quality AND quantity. Who'da thunk?
