haha a load of that screenshot posted is just modified
tutorial examples, including the SimpleFM subpatch :)

Obviously other work has gone into it though.

Yes, from what I've seen, the only blatant use of tutorial
examples is the SimpleFM~ abstraction. Obviously,
that goes hand in hand with the quality of the sounds
themselves. However, the actual timing engine is a whole
other beast.

Yes, the timing and beatgeneration is really something
special.

Ask the guys who have the 2005 AE UNTILTED SOUNDBOARD
RECORDING.
They are really helpful.

What don't you understand about it not being shared? It's
been said so many fucking times it's a fucking joke. The
more you harp on about it the less willing anyone is going
to be to actually share it with you. Shut the fuck up about
it.

Apparently , the word s is that this is the only AE album
that actually contains so-called "generative algorithms."
Namely, Navier-Stokes equations and such.

I'm not sure what to think really, some of their other
releases could also be generative, post-processed though.

I hear ya, I mean you can almost hear it other albums, I'm
certain. However, the interviews mentioned on that site you
registered for, say otherwise. Fuck who knows, it could all
be misinformation.

Where did you hear about this? I'd be very interested to
see how those sorts of things could be used for geverative
processes.

Without sounding too unhelpful, it was from a Russian forum
discussing how each record was made. Sections from
interviews were pasted into the discussion. I believe some
were from interviews with Sound on Sound from 1998 and
2004(?)

as of around 1976, any art is copyrighted the instant it is
created.

though if you want a case to stand in court, it's harder to
prove if it's not registered.

it'd be interesting if an electronic artist released a
plug-in instead of an album, and each patch was a song,
leaving the user to tweak certain parameters and explore the
structure (or lack thereof) of each track.

sooner you get that through your skull the better.

...

Bingo! It was called
Generative music

do you think ae will ever release any live material?

offline ymenard on 2005-09-08 16:19 [#01718062]

Yeah I was thinking about this... and the idea scrolled my
mind the night after I was walking out of the AE gig in
Montreal...

The AE live prestations of 2005 would be a perfect CD
release as a live album. Good lenght, great sound (from
what we've heard), kick ass intensity, enough difference
with the other albums to validitate its existance. I really
do hope that the reason why some people are so tight-arsed
about the soundboard is that it might be released officially
as a live album. If not then bleh to them.

It would be a great seller that's for sure. Hello WARP!

Anyway AE already flirted with live material with Peel
Session 1 & 2.
