Oh and my friend's brother apparantly declined an invitation
from Richard D James to make music with him, when they were
in high school in Cornwall.

Mark bell is very social with people in messageboards like
this. He seems like a very nice guy.

heh... I didn't really talk to him. I just bitched him out a
bit when he started to become a spazz.

Does Cylob frequent the board, or Mark?

i went to the same primary and secondays schools as
posh spice, and used to live in the same road as her
parents...but ive never met her, as she left school a couple
of years before i started, as she is older...

its kind of frightening how many people on this board know
idm artists...im almost afraid to give an artist a bad
reveiw in case someone on this board goes and tells them
what i said...

kindergarden at least.

If you want to say something nice about Plaid then go ahead,
i'll tell them

:)

I vaguely know kerry mcfadden, ex-atomic kitten. She used to
go to my high school, and she lived in the flats opposite us
with her fella at one point, when she was about 15 i think.
I've spoken to her a few times, she was alright up until she
got famous. Always a bit of a slapper though.

Ed says sorry for his vomit spree at your party last time.

and asks whether you consider releasing Analord 15.

Exaph: they say they like "cedar city" much more.

oh, they're online again, look !

there are some for sure but...i don't think they would like
to be recognised. and besides, fame... RDJ must be famous
with lots of people - and quite unknown to lots of
pop-lovers, too.

I am sure I have seen cylob here once or twice, but that was
back in the days of warpforum. Mark Bell was in there a
couple times a week, and he would give regular updates about
his court case against the Lyte Funky Onez, chat with
people, answer questions, and occasionally he would remix
music by other members of the forum (I heard one of the
remixes once, and it was fucking lush... I envy the guy who
he remixed).

Cylob would show up to get everybodies opinion about
whatever shit he had just finished slewing, whenever it
would come out (but he only accepted comments like "its the
best thing whatsoever hands down" or "man, that song changed
the way I see stuff").

that was about 6 years ago, so I have forgotten the names by
now. The original wasn't anything special... just a quiet
ambient thing with a beat (it wasn't even finished). Mark
bell did wonders with it.

my sisters best mate is seeing Fr. Jack from "Father Ted"'s
son.

I had a Seinfeld-like run in with him over dinner once. A
friend had recently joined the police and had been called to
the guy who plays Fr. Jack's house as it was burgled. The
nxt day i was at my sisters, her friend was there with the
son and i told him about it. He freaked out and left dinner
early to ring his dad and ask him what happened - it was all
very upsetting and my sister said i ruined a lovely
dinner.

It was hilarious!

thanks obara and Taxidermist, it's just interesting to know.
But I guess thats why these places are cool; you can take
everyone at 'face' (for want of a better word) value.

doesn't cylob live two floors down from pritchard q. chams?

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2005-05-11 04:38 [#01594567]

oh... you mean screen names? Mark Bell went by mark bell.
Cylob used something different. Also prefuse would pop in
and say a couple things as would machine drum. Once chris
clark showed up to answer some questions and the only thing
he said was "my armpits are stinky".

There was also a good chance that aphex showed up
occasionally posting under various names. A quote when
drukqs was about to be released that could have been him was
"here you go. Some old some new. I hope you cunts hate it"

Well, warp artist get to have their names in different
colors when they posted on the warp messageboard. As far as
machine drum, proem, cylob, etc... it was pretty safe to
say.

It hasn't been around for years. I used to be a fixture
there, back when I had no life, but a week after I went
offline, it was closed. It got really bad near the end, too.
The board was always getting hacked. People were going
around posing as other people (because all you needed to do
to start a mock account was type in someones name and add a
space). One time someone went in, and changed most of the
names of people who had recently posted to 'LOSER'. It was
too bad, because for a while it was a really good place to
talk about music. You also browsed threads as though it were
explorer, so replies to one person appeared as
subdirectories. It made a lot of sense.

I know a couple of semi famous electronic stars, my
favourite claim to fame though is buying "naughty"
substances of a criminal family that are VERY famous (I'm
talking Hollywood here), obviously I'm not going to say who
though.

Its suprising how the little useless nonames that you might
hear droped once in a year manage to talk much bigger that
established people with many albums out. (ei operator,
proem)

Proem was kind of a jerk.

Hmm I've got loads of pretty tenuous connections

My late uncle was a commerical composer and knew several of
the old mod type rockers who used his studios - paul weller
et al. My surviving uncle is a photographer who was Robert
Maxwell's PA, and now seems to be known by a lot of
interesting high profile people, Tony Blair and teh Queen,
etc, no-one really *cool* but he has some good anecdotes
nevertheless.

On the *cool* side my older cousin seems to genuinely know
quite a few interesting London chaps - Andy Weatherall, Pete
Doherty, couple of Primal Scream, Spiritualized, and others
I gradually find out about. He is a fascinating guy himself
I hope to spend some more time with him this summer.
