Bleep has been slashdottted . I don't know if
they could handle the slashdot effect but it's a good test
for bandwidth capacity.

Read the comments if you want. mostly computer nerds being
confronted for the first time to the electronic underground
and making funny comments as "Warp Records... featuring
artists such as Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Boards of
Canada...

Wow, their bands run the gamut from A to... well, B. " or
computer nerds being also IDM nerds and pretentious.

the bleep and warp websites seem to be very slow at the
moment.

it's a real shame that things like HAB aren't getting a
proper re-release though.

Someone at warp told me a while ago that they might consider
releasing HAB on CD with other tracks from the time. I
wonder if that has changed now bleep is up.

to be honest i was thinking that too. any re-releases seem
rather unlikely now.

They should make a rebate system whenever they re-release
smthing if you already paid for the mp3s. No would double
pay for mp3s. That is the price of the CD minus the price of
the MP3s. Now since they have no DRM, they lack the ability
to authentify the MP3 owners.

@ trust me im shure that the HAB releases will never be
re-released on CD/Vinyl

There have been so many rumours....there were boards making
entries who wants the HAB re-released....an then, this was 2
years before....still nothing happened....

You have to pay $1.50 to buy "Bit"?

A six second track that isn't music? :P

you guys are some cheap bastards... :)

seriously i have no problem funding the pockets of the
deserving artists that fill my life with such musical
enjoyment. not to mention fill my various mp3 and cd players
in my home and car! if i want music, i'll get it no matter
what i have to do. download free or pay 1.35 per mp3. rare
releases? fuck it, if i was a schmuck enough not to buy it
when it first came out or just plain missed it, i'll pay top
dollar for it on ebay.
but, i also consider myself an audiophile. so, if i REALLY
have to have a song or album, and for that very second i can
only get it on mp3, whether i pay or not, ill do it. then as
soon as i find it, i buy the real release. vinyl, cd
whatever.

its all about the music. we only live once. and its too
short to be nitpicking my favorite thing in the world.

i do kinda feel suckered into spending 1.35 for "bit"
though. i didnt even think of it cause i chose the buy
entire album option.
on the flip side, you still only pay 1.35 for songs like
"khala" and keynell mixes by Gescom. theyre 10 minutes a
piece.

yeah, imagine getting lets say philip jeck's vinly code
which is a 40 or 50 minute long mix :)
it's kind of silly to think of music from perspective how
much play time do i get for a small money isn't it? hehe

anyway i agree with what you said in your other post above:
" REALLY
have to have a song or album, and for that very second i can

only get it on mp3, whether i pay or not, ill do it. then as

soon as i find it, i buy the real release".
im the same way.

I'm just a freak when i comes to music. i get this funny
butterflies feeling when i hear a song that i like i have
never heard before. then i'll want to OWN it anyway i
possibly can. i'll make thousands of phone calls to records
stores, visit websites, then theres ebay.
and if all fails, for the moment a jacked up mp3 will tide
me over. its always nice to get a half way decent one. which
is where bleep comes in.

I'm not sure about the legal terms of the contract in what
concern whether you're buying a digital file or a 'track'.

Let me make my point: if you buy a vinyl you're buying the
track with the imperfections brought by dust and scratches
(even if your vinyl is brand new). It's by definition an
imperfect copy of the master version.
For your MP3, you're also getting a low quality version of
the master but it seems for me perfectly legit to download a
lossless version off slsk in the same way you could rip your
vinyl and run a noise remover algorythm...

In that case, I guess they also should re-release in
16bits/44kHz their back catalog. If you follow me it's
consistent with their marketing strategy of going digital.

foot note: I heard that people like the mighty richy devine
are producing 24/44+ and this kind of resolution is
supported by Ogg or Flac formats. Obviously you'll need a
device/sound card capable playing this if you want the real
deal.

I can't resist and downloaded the two HAB ep's and I can say
these sound VERY good, just HAB 2 sounds louder than 1 but I
think that is normal since I remember the same case with my
old 320kbps mp3's but with lots of scratch and clicks and
even incomplete tracks, now it feels different with these
Bleep "clean" files :)

I wonder if those HAB ep's are the most downloaded stuff in
that site at the moment
