I'm sorry to hear the news,I'm sorry this guy felt he had to take his own life. I didn't really know the guy,but I know its a loss if anyone resorts to suicide. i'm only suspicious because of the wave of similar pranks plaguing electronic music boards as of late. i know you're just thinking constructively, but wouldn't you agree that the hacker-doctor persona is a tad inappropriate for this sort of thing if it's true? my opinions on what happened to poor ol' kill switch (he is/was a nice guy): 1) he killed himself -- R.I.P. 2) he killed his online persona in a very inappropriate and disrespectful way 3) he's on vacation or otherwise offline for an extended period and will be annoyed by this 4) he's just having a joke along w/ SF who knows? i'll be sorry if i'm wrong, but the way things have been happening these last few weeks, this seems highly dubious and reeks of you-all-know-who. |

I do agree with you there. On a personal level i do think that if it was a sincere form of a post by a friend that maybe also the name would have been "mike" or something worldly generic like that. As goes for location and avatar. Because it does seem more like a gimmick than an actual real deal post. Although i couldn't help but become sad by reading some of this material in this thread. As for the state of Electronic Msg. Boards you are 100% right. There is alot of bullshit that goes along with it. There are a lot of posers that pretend to be something that they are not instead of being themselves. Jokes and pranks are ok (IMHO) every now and again but in the end this is a msg. board dedicated to music and music making. Yeah overall i do see where you are coming from because this msg. board in particular has seen a lot of garbage posts and posters. |

Hmm. This is all starting to get a little out of control. It's fairly obvious that people have firmly sided one way or the other, and that neither side will be swayed. Some of us think it's a prank, some of us think it's genuine. Those who think it's a prank have put forward reasoned arguments for their case, and those who disagree with them do so on faith and feeling. It's like the argument of science vs religion, and just as unsolvable (unless kill_switch does reappear). People get heated about science vs religion too and it serves no purpose. Constructive arguments; yes. Angry bickering; no thanks. I don't want to close this thread cos everyone's entitled to their views, but let's not degenerate into personal attacks and petty name-calling. |
