i dont care what anyone's view on the actual content of this
war is... its a heck of a lot bette rthan being a mindless
zombie to the un *cough*eu*cough*

ebtter to have a controversial opinion and take a stand on
something, than to be a slave to the roman empire.

the little stitch keeping this crazy world together.

yeah, ain't it disgusting that this war is waged just
because of a common businessdeal. It's like this:
"hey mr. Bush, we'll make sure get you elected if you make
sure our interests get served as well. So what you are going
to do is allow terrorists to strike at the heart of our
nation. This "cowardly act" will then allow us to wage war
for what will be in the eyes of the world as a "war on
terror", a "justifiable revenge", on several countries that
we will list as being part of "the axis of evil". We'll
start in Afghanistan, nothing of interest there so that'll
make 'em believe the war really is on terror. Then we'll
move to Iraq and remove Saddam so we'll gain control of
their oil. Heck, after 12 years of bloody UN sanctions the
Iraqis must be completely worn out. It sure as hell did kill
alot of their children so after invading the country and
despatching the remaining resistance we'll have nothing to
worry about * all cheer and laugh out loud, shake hands and
pat each other on the back in total agreement * ".

what is sad is that this fits perfectly with reality

imagine... (where is lennon when we need him?)

How appropriate then that Lennon was dispatched by a victim
of a secret US mind control project.
And don't forget that the CIA have themselves created the
scourge of the west that is Osama Bin Laden

"The declared aim of the war by the US and Britain was
that Saddam posed a threat to the region and the world
because of his secret arsenal of weapons of mass
destruction. The low level of allied casualties and the lack
of any evidence so far that Saddam possesses such weapons
makes the supposed threat from the Iraqi leader look ever
more mythical.

This puts a particular onus on the US to justify the war by
making sure that the Iraqis have a better life after the
war. The best course for the Americans would be to turn over
the running of Iraq to a transitional United Nations
authority until a democratic government is elected. But
since one of the purposes of the Republican right and the
neo-conservatives in Washington in launching war was to
downgrade the functions of the UN to a purely humanitarian
agency
, this is unlikely to happen unless Tony Blair can
somehow persuade President Bush otherwise.
" - Reuters

Don't know how substantiated that is, but its rather
worrying to what extent the 'neo-conservatives', cheney et.
al. are getting their way ... syria and iran!

yeah they even boldly stated the US intend to rule iraq
until iraq's future is "safe and secure". Or until the oil
supplies run out?

I'm fed up about hearing the term"Weapons of Mass
Destruction". It is overused and overemphasised. This war is
all about generating fear and panic, to control the
populous. Sure, righty Saddam Hussain is gonna launch some
rusty depleted missiles which are second hand and have "Made
in USA" emblazoned on them. I'm sure if they were fired (if
they do exist that is) they would barely even reach the
Kuwaiti border. Now that must be interpreted as a MASSIVE
threat to the USA, I mean Kuwait is only like 2 kilometres
from Chicago. No wonder the USA are fighting this war. They
have a crap sense of geography and distance. I'm Scottish
and this Yankee dunce thought that Scotland was a city in
Ireland!! The bottom line is that the yanks will be able to
drive their gas-gussling Sports Utility Vehicles(SUVs) for
another two hundred years at third world countries, and the
environment. now THAT is progress. Viva Democracie!!

among others:

jeb bush (georgie's brother, gov of florida)

without war, think of all the great videogames and movies we
would have missed out on.
War Craft
Nuclear War
Star Craft
Counter Strike
Command and Conquer
War Lords
Kool-Aide Man

or movies:

THin Red Line
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Hamburger Hill
Three Kings
Black Hawk Down
Platoon
Red Dawn
Antz
Bugs Life
Star Wars
War of the Worlds
Mars Attacks
Signs
Office Space

black hawk down a great movie ... ?

so maybe Bush et al. should start exterminating some
particular ethnic minority - because hey, Schindler's list
was a good movie right? ;)

Don't know .. its sad i think - its a really tricky
situation that is being abused .. toppling saddam should not
be a good that overshadows and justifies all other actions
...

talib kweli on the war (click for more)
The problem with our role is Americans live in a world of
illusion. We're illusioned about our safety. We're in an
illusion about what our role is in world politics and
foreign affairs, and our policies are killing and destroying
and doing a lot of things that we are not aware of. So when
the media shows us bringing war to Iraq it's very easy for
us to justify that brutality on a country that obviously is
no match for us. It's a sad situation.

who are they trying to convince with that patriotic charade?
I'm sure alot of thick-skulled Americans who get reality
from their TV sets would buy that utter crap, but any sane
person reading through this bugger can only laugh like a
maniac and say "are they for real?"
These sort of guys are the CAUSE of the very problems in the
world that they are describing. This is the white collar
scum that doesn't deserve a human body, they should
reincarnate as flies on which I shit

i love the people who try to shut up those who are anti-war
by just saying "SUPPORT THE TROOPS." if you really supported
them you wouldn't have them risking their lives in a
needless war. *wonders if i already used that line in this
thread*

also how they say, they should respect the president more,
and have faith in his judgement ... but hang on, isn't
america a democracy where each individuals opinion is
valued, indeed relied upon.

it! erm .. mmm.. yeah .. ok your point still stands.

if bush doesn't respect the UN (effectively the rest of the
world) why should we trust him.. we didn't even elect him.
if the UN approved of this war and bush was a legitimate
president i think this would be a different issue. but right
now it's a flagrant disregard of everyone's interests except
bush and his oil buddies.

i support the troops but not necessarily the war. i think
it's horrible that all these young americans had to be
shipped over there to risk their lives so that rich people,
who didn't have to join the military to afford to go to
school, can drive their expensive gas guzzling SUV's.

and my movie/videogame post was just me being facetious.. of
course i don't think black hawk down is a "great" movie.
though some of the scenes were well orchestrated... better
than Wind Talkers though.. good gawd what an awful movie.

that's exactly what i'm saying, except i want you to
understand that these young working class folks do NOT have
to be risking their lives. the greedy are putting them in
harm's way so they can profit off their sweat and blood
(quite literally) and our post-9/11 renewed sense of
patriotism.

p.s. i hope you were kidding by including office space in
your list cos i don't remember any wars in that one... ;)

yeah right... support the troops:

1. How has the Bush administration shown its support for
our troops?

a. The Republican-controlled House Budget Committee voted
to cut $25 billion in veterans benefits over the next 10
years.

b. The Bush administration proposed cutting $172 million
from impact aid programs that provide school funding for
children of military personnel.

c. The administration ordered the Dept. of Veterans Affairs
to stop publicizing health benefits available to veterans.

Result= no weapons of mass destruction after all.

I think we were justified attacking them on the basis they
had them , in that now we've been proved wrong, at least we
can sleep a bit safer knowing they don't.

I'm turning my attention to Iran and North Korea now;
really dangerous those two.
