Lucid Dreaming

ive had lucid dreams for a looooong time (i guess as long as
i remember... i dotn remember it being new to me) anyways
ive never used any technique or anything

i often get excited though when i realize im dreaming, then
i think too much about the fact that im dreaming and i wake
up... its annoying when it happens

having total control over your world.. theres nothing else
like it

for example breathing water is a particularly cool
sensation, you should try it next time youre SURE (lol ;)
youre dreaming

in my experience lucid dreaming can be VERY rewarding..

ahh fuck reading shit like this makes me want to do it so
bad. sounds really fun.

i have only had one lucid dream that i can remember and all
i did was jump up and down. but no ordinary jumps i would
jump so high and so fast that i could feel it in my stomach,
like on a roller coaster or something. and every time i was
about to come back down i thought, theres no fuckin way im
gonna survive this landing, but i always did. ahh i want
another one sooo bad.

how is your sense of body? are you just a point of
awareness, or can you feel your whole body? what i'm really
getting at is, could you put yourseld in the place of some
other object... be it animal or not?

Breathing water is cool btw. And for the record i didn't
sleep well last night so i kinda gave my hopes up.

I took a nap this afternoon though, hoping it will interrupt
my sleeping pattern tonight. (which it probably will).

Reality checks help alot though. Yes you can be another
object in your dream and experience things from their point
of view. it's quite odd.

I didn't sleep well last night either...
But I did have a dream I kept losing my teeth. I have those
every once in awhile

yes its from the point of view of my usual body for me, but
i only actually sense my body when i think about it or
notice it...

for example ill be moving down a hallway at usual eye level
but have no awareness of walking, or sense of my feet
hitting the ground or any sense of body.. its like all those
aspects are just assumed
so actually i guess you could say thats sort of like a point
of concoiusness
but then if i thought about my body, then i would
immediately feel it, and usually differently than usual...
but my senses are different than usual
the things i percieve are simpler but more intense, and
usually only one sense at a time (except for sight which i
guess is always there)
physical sensations are more common for me than audible
ones, which are usually just sort of... 'assumed'
like i'll know someone said something, but i wont have the
sensation of hearing it with my ears

oh one really cool thing is that i occasionally i can hear
music, but with the full rich sensation of actually hearing
it with my ears, not the usual way you can conciously
imagine sound or dialogue in your head...
like ill be able to hear many different instruments
simontaniously, each one very detailed and with its own
melody or part...
...like my brains improvising music

and it always seems like really fucking amazing music, but
when i wake up i cant remember it, and if actively try to
remember it it always almost slips out of my grip
at most i wake up with a vague memory of it, but never
anything vidid enough even to hum

smell and taste show up from time to time too... (food can
taste great:P)

oh yeah so to answer your question, i have experienced a
sort of 'floating camera' point of view (POV from now on
ok?), but i dont remember ever having that while also having
a sense of self that interacts with the world

although i think ive been able to make the world do stuff
while im in that objective floating camera POV

i dont think ive ever 'been' something else or in the place
of something else..... and ive never deliberately tried to
project myself into anything else either

sorry, to clarify: that floating camera POV is not
necessarily confined to realistic human places (ie eye
level)

but can be from a corner in the ceiling for example or
floating up in the air like a helecopter watching a scene

Yeah i hate those teeth dreams. I have dreams where my teeth
lock together on the side, like they hook each other or
something and get caught. So i panic (naturally) and they
mostly break off. It freaks me out. I have had so many of
those. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR fucking orthodontist!

I had this one dream where i was with RHCP up on stage. I
didn't know how i got there but they appeared to be in the
middle of a set. Anthony dove off the stage into the crowd
and flea was going buck wild on some digeriedoo. I was
looking at this fatass pile of instruments and didn't really
like anything so i turned and anthony was climbing out of
the crowd motioning for me to play. So i grabbed this guitar
and started playing this song i have been writting for like
ever now. But instead of just me the whole band plays along
and anthony sings this song along withit that i have never
heard. Then we all jammed out and the crowd was going buck
wild.

Then my vision zoomed out and i was watching a tv the whole
time.

I am glad I am not the only one suffering this misfortune. I
also everynow and again have a strage attraction to dream
characters as though i feel drawn to them like i should be
with them.

So i ask these characters who they are and i always get
bizarre answers.

Me: What is your name.

Girl: Jerusalem

Me: wait... what was your name again.

Girl: Israel. What's yours?

Does anyone else experience strange happenings with
conversation like this?

Hey I know exactly what you are talking about
Virginpusher...It's so weird how powerful some dreams can
be. Some of the responses I get are so damn strange.

Did you ever ask them what they want or what they are there
for? It's retarted especially if you pick the right
character. Like my dad was trying to kill me in a dream. It
was freaky he was chasing me around and i remember this look
in his eyes.... they were like yellowish. Anyways i finally
stopped and asked him what he was trying to do, then he
appeared confused and gave me directions which involved me
killing another Dream character. Hmmm that was bogus.
Luckily dream characters don't die.

hmmm I'm not sure
although once I asked my friend (who was in my dream) why he
was late getting somewhere and he went off on some tangent
about killing off the world

Told you I have some weird dreams about the end of the world
or references to it.

I think if it was strong enough to cause emotion after a
dream sequence then you should probably look into what your
dream was. I think there is signifience in what you are
observing. I'd be curious to hear more and to try and
interpret it.

Had my 1st one 2 nights ago.

WTF Virgin, honestly, you keep coming up with shit that's
happened recently in my life or whatnot, that I can relate
to RIGHT AT THIS UFCKING MOMENT.

where the _fuck_ did you come from ?!

it was long
it wasn't lucid
woke up kinda scared (1st time this has EVER happened).

ive had many dreams about tornados tho, and i love tornados,
but at the same time scared that they just run me down.
over and over again.

but i always survive. multiple tornados at one time, and
this time they were just destroying cities and what not.

for some reason i was in tokyo, going all over, different
places, being destroyed by ~ 9 or so tornados.

there was more, but i can't remember.

funny that you mention that.

i know what you mean... i do not regret any of the rides my
subconscious mind takes me on, but the few experience i've
had with lucidity weren't as you might imagine they are. i
wasn't thinking hard or anything, there was just an element
of consiusness present that made for a wonderful feeling. i
know that i could do great things for myself if i master it,
but it would never replace normal dreaming. i like very
much to just give in, relax as you say.

regarding attraction to dream characters: a mushroom
ingestion dream. i'm at a sigur ros concert (this was a few
weeks before the real concert i was anticipating) and i roll
into some outskirts highway ditch to consume some psilocybe.
i'm back at the concert with the fungus kicking in and the
ceiling becomes a beautiful skyscape immediately
post-sunset. there are terydactyls (sp?) flying, volcanoes
erupting. the energy is very high, not unlike the onset of
a waking life mushroom trip. i'm at the edge of the dance
floor, which becomes a lake, and i'm on a dock. i spot a
most beautiful creature something like a chocobo furby with
iridescent electric feathers. i'm so in love with this
creature that i immediately travel at light speed across the
surface of the lake to this creature and i'm suddenly in
it's body, somewhat on the surface. i'm flooded with it's
love and i share it's connetion to "the source". . . of all
things warm positive and lovely, warm, nurishing,
empowering... i'm crying, we're together floating atop the
surface of this transendent lake, riding some sort of
multi-dimensional bicycle. my memory becomes vague at that
point.

i had my first proper lucid dream last night!! its was
amazing, better than i thought it would be, i really didnt
want to wake up.

Quite a lot happened but i dont remember all of it... i'll
tell you a coulple of funny things that happened for now.

i vaguely remember walking into a room with Richard D James
in there, with lots of weird contraptions... like a mad
scientists room. Anyway he started shooting at me, not with
proper bulets but tiny versions, probably wouldnt have hurt
me but i ran...

i remembered the mirror thing in my dream but just my luck
it was small. I thought i'd try it anyway and stuck my head
in expecting it to transport me somewhere. It didnt (gave me
a weird feeling in my head though) and i pulled my head back
out and broke into someones house looking for a large
mirror!

was a very weird dream... but fun, i was just experimenting
with stuff i found, i ate fruit which was the best fruit
i've ever tasted (i reccomend blue oranges!)

oh and one more thing i tried the flying thing but i just
flapped my arms and got no-where, plus i was on a steep path
so i was afraid of falling.

anyone else had success with lucid dreaming recently?

this was only my third night of attempting it

That sounds like fun. Was that feeling in your head kind of
like cold static electricity? Blue oranges? Yeah for some
reason food is amazing in lucid dreams.

With flying try running and jumping in the air with your
arms extended superman style. The whole time think of what
it would be like to take off. It might not work the first
time but after a couple of tries you'll be up in no time.

Remember nothing can hurt you in a lucid dream. So you could
jump off a building and land as if you only jumped like 3
feet.

Next time you want to find a mirror or anything else just
find a door that is closed and say out loud "when i open
this door i will be {insert desired location}" It has
worked for me even when i had asked for obscure things.

Also it's all in the mind (literally) so if you want to do
something do it with confidence.

virgin: isn't this a bit scary ? i mean. if you gain control
of your dreams, you may like the fact you can do what you
want... you'll forget bout what's a dream and what not. i
mean imagine: you wake up, you think that you woke up, but
you're dreaming it.
different way too. i mean for example your girlfriend tells
you something really odd and you think "ee, that's a dream"
you go on the street to prove your thing and a car hits you.
dead men.

i don't think mixing reality with dreams is good.
