You gotta stamp out militant jihadists before they bring a
dirty nuke into SF or NY, or London, or India.

These are not good people.

But I think if Obama does it, it will be cleaner and more
targeted, like Clinton in Kosovo.

its historic and im glad he won,
but it will be near impossible to live up to liberal
expectations. when the labour party won after 16 years
of reactionism in our country nothing changed either.
they worked hand in hand with the reactionist parties
and went even further...
i think this is likely to happen in america too.
maybe im a bit too pessimistic because i voted to
make a change and my party let the people who voted
them down big time.
well at least i dont expect obama to invade furthermore
of the middle-east. although that would have been
problematic
for mccain aswell i guess.

this danger is more likely to banish if the us would keep
out of the middle-east and admit they made a huge mistake.
you cannot bring other countries to peace by killing its
population and a clean war is an illusion.

with regards to Iraq, or any general occupation I completely
agree with your sentiment.

with regards to afghanistan- targeted strikes on taliban
outposts backed by hard intel, well that IS a different kind
of operation. It's only because Bush fucked this country up
so badly that we look at it as the same sort of deal.

there's no doubt our military has been grossly misused and
mistreated- my point is just I really don't think Obama is
going to roll that way.

Obama will be another Clinton: a "liberal" who will bend to
conservative agendas. watch.

he doesn't have to bend to anything with democrats
controlling the house and senate. so if he did, that'd be
kind of fucked up.

America will continue to be run by big business not its
presidents. Obama is just a different brand of cigarette.

President Hussein, I salute you!

This is pretty good, although I see it more as a reflexive
sideways move towards empty platitudes over empty threats
than a true revolutionary invigoration of people's basic
premises, but still a darn good example of history's
tendency to even out in the long run. I hope this will cast
out the dark hexes of narrow-minded Bible Thumpers and other
serpentine cock suckers and move us out of the Politics of
Fear into the Light of Tomorrow, the Change to Come, the
Change of T*O*D*A*Y

It is unlikely to end, but I wish it would. Ending it
wouldn't benefit me in the least, but it sure would help
this country out with it's crime and all the money that
could be saved from keeping less in prisons and "fighting"
the war.

And also, just like the War on Terror....how can you fight
either with unsecured borders?

As for the Middle East, I'm a firm believer that the sooner
we are out of there the better. Problems are escalating in
Syria and Pakistan and the last thing we need to be doing is
*influencing* these Arab nations who are already not very
fond of us.

i'm not in the mood to read the pessimistic posts

i want to believe it's not a simple president that have been
chosen

he represents more that a politician, he represent millions
of people around the world and he knows it, i can saw it in
his tired eyes last night

it's just a little revenge, in the cultural sense, for those
who knew in their life what is like being a minority.

fun was had at the pub, more packed than i have ever seen it
(more so than st paddy's day, and this is a proper irish
pub). tons of cheering, a yell for our friend cobra actually
made the bar erupt in cheers, thinking it was for obama.

but i am utterly shocked at california. did we really BAN
gay marriage? The state with fucking san francisco banned
gay marriage? this is just retarded, i can't believe it
passed. fuck you so cal orange county religious right
assholes.

should have made his election speech with "rebel without a
pause" blasting from behind him, wearing a black beret and
leather gloves, michelle toting an AK-47, his kids holding
rocks like little palestinians, shouting:

seriously tho, excellent news. i don't care if he sells out
a little bit or doesn't live up to the hype, he's a smart
guy. and as for change? well, we didn't need all that neocon
shit in the first place! so change is about right.

feel kinda jealous of my little bro tho, he doesn't give a
rat's ass either way, hitler could be president and it would
just be a distraction from playing his wii and eating pop
tarts, i'd love to be in my own little world like that:
"shit is booooring!"

yep. prop 8 on the california ballot. and it fucking passed
52% to 48%.

honestly, i do think a lot of it had to do with the fact
that a people had a hard time conceiving of voting for
something by voting no. hell, it took me far too long to
explain it to my mom and she's an intelligent person.

let's hope that the final count changes (unlikely) or they
just completely missed the castro or something.

It seems silly that a state constitution should be amended
because effectively half the people want it that way. It
will be contested in court though and there are still civil
unions.

Also, I imagine there will now be a push to make civil
unions benefits more equitable with marriage benefits making
the amendment more about semantics than anything meaningful.
10 years from now people will look back at this amendment
and realize how ignorant and ridiculous it is and probably
un-amend it or whatever.
