the main argument against nuclear power is based on fear. steps have been taken to prevent another chernobyl or 3-mile island, and it hasn't happened in over 20 years... not to say it couldn't or wouldn't happen again, but let's not live in constant fear (and poison the environment with dirty coal in the process).
libertarians (I am basically one- though I'm more of a realist on the subject than an idealist) just believe that the constitution should be followed, believe in civil liberties, believe in personal accountability, and believe our currency should be backed by something other than credit. Sounds fuckin' wacko to me.
But you can have your 2 party shit system for the rest of your life. It's worked out super terrific, hasn't it?

Libertarianism is just another -ism? what people need to vote is liberty, the only thing you can't vote on the outside.

There are too many things standing in the way of being able to vote for liberty. Rigged elections in Africa and America, the FPTP system in UK. It's all just bollocks.
If people really care, then what's wrong with them living a self-sufficient, independant lifestyle away from most people.

My friend in USA said this:
because he has openly stated that he wants to basically get rid of the constitution. If you are not american I doubt that yo have studied the constitution and know that it is the reason democracy has lasted in America. Getting rid of the constitution would be getting rid of a federalist america.
Throughout history a socialist agenda has never worked to get a nation out of debt/ to boost the economy. it has always done the complete opposite (see great Britain since labour took over.) To promote investing in the private sector is a far better way to promote economic growth.
In america anyone in public office has to make all their personal and public records available to the public. It seriously worries me that none of obama' records are available, not even his birth certificate. we have no proof he was born in america ( a prerequisite to become president).
If obama were to win he would be the most liberal/socialist leader we have ever had. America was founded because a bunch of british people wanted to live in a place where there was no monarch and a very limited government. Obama would throw off the american system of checks and balances and increase the power of the presidency. with the already extremely liberal congress, anything he wants passed would be.
I have more reasons but i think that is enough. The UK is a socialist state nowadays and if you havent lived anywhere else it is impossible to know how much the government is controlling you.
America has been able to remain arguably the best place to live on earth because we have the constitution which ensures us the rights to life, liberty and the pursuite of happiness. Obama said that these were all NEGATIVE rights, and with that I greatly disagree.

So, no one contends these arguments?
Pretty poor, say I.
I don't necessarily agree with her, I just want to here someone with greater intelligence than I oppose such views, which I find a bit difficult to argue against from a Brit's point of view.
