I don't mean to be rude - people have their opinions and
that's fine, but I don't like people buying into
propaganda.

I work for a newspaper publishing company in the Chicago
suburbs and all last week on the front page of each paper
they would ask who you're voting for and why.

Nearly every person responded with propaganda. "Oh, I'm
voting for McCain because he has experience and he's a
maverick." or "I'm voting for Obama because he represents
*change* and we don't need 4 more years of Bush."

Yeah that pisses me off because people can't form their own
opinions about things. Those comments I mentioned earlier
are legitimate issues that need to be addressed that neither
party will dare to.

Since the thread is an Obama love-fest (as opposed to
McCain) I will say that Obama doesn't represent any
considerable change because the status-quo will still be
intact.

When Obama gets into Office look at the things I said. See
if he repeals bad policies that Bush put in place these 8
years. If he does nothing to repeal these bad policies than
he is no different and no better than the neo-cons, that is
why I said they should stop lying to the public and form 1
large party.

Democrats will most likely control both Houses, BUT even if
they don't he needs to put forth the effort and at least TRY
to. If no attempt is made, what I said stands. Absolutely
no difference.

i think obama is more likely to:

stop invading countries we have no business fucking with.

allow women to keep the right to an abortion in any state,
under any circumstances.

project a good image of america around the world.

allow teh gheys to marry. why not? it's nobody's business
but theirs.

redistribute wealth to the poor. mccain is calling him a
socialist? great! imma vote for the socialist!

stop that crazy fundie bitch palin becoming president if
mccain's ancient ass expires.

You "think" - that's the problem. Where is the dialogue
about this? Obama won't pull troops out around the world -
he has mentioned putting more troops in Afghanistan. If you
want us to stop invading countries, then we should be
pulling out our troops and leaving the bases we have
established in countries that don't need us there anymore +
ones we have "no business fucking with."

Pro-Choice - that's cool, I definitely lean that way with
rape and incest

If you want to project a good image of our country than you
would pull troops IMMEDIATELY out of the middle-east and
admit that we as a country made a mistake to go in there
under false pretenses, as well as fix our damn monetary
policy. These other countries that are in recessions have
us to thank for that (not completely but a lot of the blame
is our policy)

Gays to marry, sure why not

Redistribute wealth? Yeah, I disagree with entitlements.
That doesn't solve any of the problems with our economy and
economic structure. You want people to have as much money
as they can by working hard and not having to give up money
to the government. A great economic country is one that
saves and produces - this country has gotten away from that
big time. And guess what if you tackle the issue of our
Monetary Policy than the middle class wouldn't be getting
wiped out right now and the Standard of Living of every
American would rise. Do you know that voting for these
bailouts will cause massive inflation (plus the FED printing
$$$ that gets pumped into the market without media
coverage). That inflation will tax everyone and put a much
bigger burden on the middle and lower class. Again Obama
and McCain are dancing around the bigger issue.

You don't want to see President Palin scandals? Or how much
her daughters turn into party whores?

Paul/Schiff '12

Politicians and commentators, news achors, everybody's
understanding of the wealth redistribution thing is totally
in outer space.

Giving someone money is a nice thing. Giving things to
people is a kind, polite thing. It makes me nauseated that
all these people making a quarter million are infuriated
they will be letting less rich people have some of it. It is
a nice thing to give. Maybe Americans will be nicer people
after 4 years of wealth distribution

I'm all for charity, we need more of it, but it's not right
to force people into it - then it no longer becomes charity.
Sorry, but we need government staying out of our lives more
than encroaching on them.

I don't follow this whole wealth distribution because it's
all b/s. Like I said Monetary Policy is a bigger issue.
What good will having a lot of dollars be if it's worth
nothing. Destroy our currency like these idiots in
Washington are and then get back to me about wealth
redistribution.

Revpersona I agree with a lot that you are saying.

*the patriot act IS a crock of fucking shit.
*the FCC is a crock of fucking shit too.
*as far as the economy goes, neither of the candidates are
all that different (none solve the fundamental problem that
our economy is not backed by anything but IOU slips) -I
wouldn't consider a redistribution of "tax cuts" a
redistribution of wealth any more than normal taxes. Taxes
always take away your wealth, it's best to just accept that.
(it will never change.)

*people are overly partisanized (especially this time of
year.) i cant stand hearing people repeat the campaign's
talking points as their own.

*bitbare is a troll, don't bother replying to him ever

I do like Obama more than McCain though. He has a better
character. Just look at the 3rd debate... when shcieffer
asked him "do you think Palin would make a good president?"
and Obama answered "I think the american people will decide
that" and went on to compliment her on some things. It would
have been so easy to shit all over her there, but he didn't.
I liked that a lot. It shows he's not selling out and going
negative like McCain has. He's consistently taken the high
road during this campaign. He's fundamentally honest and
he'll probably make a good prez.

How is there any comparison to all the issues I stated and
simply just saying "i want change" or "he has experience and
a maverick?"

@wolf - I understand what you;re saying. Obama does seem
like a decent man - I never criticized his character. I
just got a bad feeling that the things I mentioned will come
to fruition. That the wrong-doings of Bush will stay intact
and the status-quo will never be challenged. And if this is
the case - then America needs to wake up because the
corporations are running this country and more people will
need to understand this or we will never have actual change.

i dont's see how is your question related to what i said,
but as an answer, i'd say you're reducing the issues to
slogans on both camps and that's kindof unfair.

my point was that all the issues you stated are just (and
exactly) what ron paul has been preaching about. so it
doesn't really come of like you "forming your own opinion"
rather than just repeating what some other political actor
says.

it's not an attack, just an observation.

Well forming an opinion comes from listening to people and
research. Yes, I like Paul's platform, I am little more
socially liberal with Pro-Choice and Gay Marriage, but what
you're basically insinuating is that I listen to Paul and
that's it - I like it.

People are impressionable. If someone is simply listening
to one view of things and that's it then there is something
wrong with that. My beef is that people weren't even
mentioning the issues, just propaganda slogans.

And bit Hare you are way off the mark. You know if you
cited something like arrogant or an asshole or something
similar when describing "scum" I could understand if I come
off that way (I don't mean to), but for you to say I'm lazy,
have no brain, drama queen you couldn't be more wrong.

At least choose your wording more accurately, because the
people posting in this thread seem to be more informed than
the general public even if I don't agree with them.
