I'm looking into having my Wii chipped--my friend will chip it for me (he chipped his PS2 and is very competent).
However, I'm unsure which chip to go for: I want one with NTSC compatibility, full rather than partial would be best (It's a PAL Wii).
Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm not the one to ask on this subject, but I decided to bump the thread at the chance someone who can help marlowe will see it.

haha, as it turns out I'm an orphan. Who knew?
Oh, and sorry to get your hopes up. I saw the thread at the very bottom of the page (I have the main page set to display 100 threads), and I felt bad that you weren't able to get any suggestions. That's actually somewhat strange, considering video games are discussed more frequently than music at times.
I feel like Ophecks would have the answer if he were to log on. He usually keeps up on all the consoles. At any rate, good luck with the chipping. <3

I also thought I'd be guaranteed some sound advice on the matter--my friend who'll be doing the actual chipping has made some suggestions but has left it up to me to choose the actual chip, but they all seem to say Partial for NTSC compatibility so I don't wanna chip it and then find out only Barbie Wii works!

Marlão you made a mistake of buying a PAL Wii, not all NTSC games will run plus Mario Galaxy is also imcompatible with modded systems but there are workarounds if you have the right modchip. I'm waiting till next year and then I'll import one from the US, I never buy PAL systems since I don't like to play at 50Hz.

My GF won the Wii in a competition so I'm afraid we didn't have much choice :\ Now...what's this about Mario Galaxy being incompatible with modded systems?! I was planning on purchasing that awesome-looking game!

Both original and copy will not run on a modded system, I'll try to find the info and what modchip you have to have.

D2CKEY modchip is the one that managed to load Galaxy DVDr but the original will run on modded systems apparently.

What advantages are there to having my Wii chipped, I am sorry but I don't really know what it would do.

It means you are able to download games, burn them to DVD, and play them on your Wii.
