yeah its from the ninhotline
hes totally pissed that the record big wigs are making the
maket (austrailia in this case) sell his cds for $30+USD for
a cd, hes upset that fans cant just go buy a cd for
$10-$15USD. But telling the kids to steal it, is funny in a
NIN way, but even if all the kids in Australia steal his
music from the excutives, they wont notice it a bit. Its
like a drop in the bucket. Its just sad that they are
"raping" the true music fans, that want to buy.

Hense he said he will no longer do the traditional cd
singles, cause the one song and 2-3 b-sides end up costing
fans and entire album. Whereas the domestic singles, are
usually one song plus 5-6 remixes/b-sides.
LAZY_REmix coveR
End statement.

I dont think Trent needs to sell records to put food on the
table. He standing up for what is right. Thats why NIN has
always been so solid, record sales or not.

well what kind of sucks is that he uses the word "steal" i
think if the price of the cd were lower he is effectively
saying that file to file sharing \ downloading is stealing.
I would rather see an artist attempt to embrase it in a
different way, why not offer it from his site or something.

i think most of his audience likes that his word choice
makes them feel badass.

If he was a struggling artist he wouldn't be saying that.
It's easy to say "steal my music" when you are already rich
with a massive fan base.

CDs don't make much money, touring does though. What are the
ticket and merchandise prices by the way? Usually highly
excessive. So maybe he should stop touring, because that's
making his label a lot more money than CDs.

no. touring makes good money for artists. it's CDs where the
margin for artists v. labels is utterly brutal.
and above and beyond that, obviously most musicians
appreciate being able to touch their fan base in that kind
of immediate fashion.
