ep7 - oh Sooo good
LP5 (no title actually) - good good
untitled - very rough, not really IDM as one would imagine
confield - rough edges, pre-Untitled,
Tri-repetae++ - double disk, oh so great, Perfect
Draft 7.30 - pre Confield, rough
amber - smooth, ambient, countrysides, beautiful
Chiastic Slide - old school autechre, IDM
Incunabula - old school autechre, IDM
Basscad ep - very noise
get all, bye, buy.

LP5 is the best. You're probably a tard like the rest, and
like their worst albums more. So I recommend anti ep.

Chronologically. I've tried to introduce some friends to Ae,
but they normally listens to the last albums and think it's
"strange".

start FROM Chiastic Slide. all before that is long
repeatitive tracks and may be boring

i agree with the chiastic slide reccomendation.

then maybe lp5 or ep7, then on to confield. its all so fun
when youre first getting into it.

btw, recylcle: draft = pre confield what?

Tri Repetae... Clipper and Eutow are usually enough to perk
anyones ears

offline Rostasky from United States on 2007-06-28 01:50 [#02097894]

I started with chiastic slide. I honestly wasn't that into
it for a long time, but I figured I would try again, as I
had heard how awesome AE was, so I got incunabula and amber
and tri repetae before coming back to chiastic slide and
loving it.

Amber is everyones favourite..... you're the only one brave
enough to admit it...... that is what makes you truly
different

I think any album is a good start
in order of year release is a good idea, but I wouldnt start
with any of the last 3, which are my favs, but not good to
start with (only in my opinion)

draft 7:30 is their absolute best album. it's autechre in
every sample.

offline melack from barcielwave on 2007-06-28 10:43 [#02097958]

yeah, its a more pleasant experience to start for the
begining and going discovering the autechre evolution... all
the albums are the same, just more complex and better in
everything... as some people said, you can miss the first
albums and start from where all began to be magic, chiastic
slide or tri repetae or lp5... then going back to older
albums with a more common structure and discovering autechre
essence even there is pretty nice too... my first ae album
was amber, but i didnt really liked it after really knowing
how ae works with lp5 and lp7 and chiastic and etc.

offline clayhillpeak from Vuh (China) on 2007-06-28 10:47 [#02097962]

maybe i should just start with all albums playing at once?

experience...

i started with confield and thus was disappointed with their
earlier stuff when i first heard it. i'd say their middle
point is tri repetae. you can comfortably branch off in any
direction from there.
