I don't get it, I just don't get it. It's just a way to escape reality from my perspective - ultimate beliefs is what will ruin this earth.
Anyone religious who care to explain me that?

why would you say that manu? i dont see any indication of that - but i guess you are refering to the individualisation the capitalism across europe is causing. but they still need excuses to do what they do. and that excuse could very well be (and has been in countless cases) religion.

1 belief that you set over rational thought. 1 belief could for an example be; i believe in god. no matter what you say and what logic you use to convince people to think rational - religious people will always fall back on their one true ultimate belief.

is religion created, or does it come from a natural human desire to feel part of something greater than what is experienced here and now?
Undeniably organised religion is used to control and manipulate rather than to liberate.

since you asked, here's my opinion, although i'm not religious.
we all have beliefs that are assumed to be true without proof. they may not be absolute, but if they are transparent and unchallenged, you will operate them as true continuously.
you're not examining reality at all, you're examining your model of reality.
if you allow yourself patience with your limitations, then you should allow others patience with others' limitations.
few are yet prepared to see everything that they believe to be true declared false.
in the meantime, why not choose thoughts and behaviors that reflect the greatest good: those derived from unconditional love and regard for all people?

Your final paragraph is expressed as a Truth, rather than an opinion: maybe that explains why people find it hard to examine models of reality rather than viewing things as absolutes?

"religion" just to paraphrase like you did can set a system for a person. "dogma" (religion) as you mentioned does not necessarily have to be one of conventional principles, set forth by institutions, or a religious figurehead.
religion and science, if you choose, can work in a contiuum spectrum. 'illusion' is what gives vision to art and science because it breaks away from a 'direct experience' (that is what we know for certain). but that is not to say magic is not a religion simply because it used to present something that is not of known origin.

ha, i can't hide the fact that i do believe in one absolute. while i'm not here to twist anyone's arm about that, i do think that there is very good reason to operate this law.
the more i say the more i seem to cloud the issue, so for the sake of clarity i will...

Seems like some people are (genetically?) predisposed to become religious. This in itself is not evil, it's the fear - fear of the others, the unknown, or maybe fear that the diety aren't satisfied with the individual - that makes religion destructive in some cases. It's really pointless to advocate the abolishment of religion, or - the opposite - that everyone accepts a certain religion, as both will never happen.

this is what i pulled out last night, makes about 3 big meals
green lentils 200g soaked until double in size sweet potato about the size of your fist, diced brown onion x 1 coriander one bunch
butter + olive oil 1/3 cup
ginger 3-4 inch garlic 5 cloves
red chilli x 2 cloves x 10 cinnamon stick x 1 brown cardamom pods x 3 green cardamom pods x 10
turmeric powder
so yeah i just melt the butter in the oil, and chuck all the dry spices into that until the smell hits. cook the onions in the spices.
meanwhile the soaked lentils are boiling in water with turmeric (30 min)
boil the diced pumpkin until its almost soft
strain the cooked lentils, but keep the cooking liquid
bring everything together, add the cooking liquid to reach the consistency you like
mix in chopped coriander

wary of things derived from something?
i'm only saying, if you're going to take a drink, pick a good well.
whatever it was so long ago, it took a step forward, and another, and another, until it got to you. now you take a step forward...
when did you start stepping? and have you ever said thanks for the feet? what else are you taking for granted?
i mean only to direct attention to the well, to the feet, and to that first step forward, for the time being.
i mention it in good faith and for good fun because of your reply, hope you don't mind.
