LAZY_TITLE

Oof, we've heard (from people who wish not to be named,
but who we're very grateful to for the info) that Nathan
Barley series 2 looks like it is almost certainly going
ahead.

That's be excellent, one of the best series of recent times
that really benefits from repeated viewings.

it's funny yourself and other_dan say that, since it's the
complete opposite of what your man on that site [and most of
those who reply to his post] says

I tried reading his rant but he seems to labour under the
delusion that he knows more about Morris than Morris
himself. Plus Nathan Barley is Morris and Booker.

Nathan Barley is a caricature, slightly larger than life but
not grotesquely so, he's pretty near the mark. The humour's
very dark, it's in a unique setting, I think it has a great
amosphere from the editing, the film quality, the
camerawork, .. there's so many good characters and set
pieces.. it works really well watching them all together.
These fucking Morris expert bores take it all to seriously,
there's enough duff moments in Day Today or Brass Eye as
well as the genius, fucking bleating about how he's lost his
touch. Like all good mavericks he's done something
unexpected and pulled the rug from under even his most
ardent fans, especially them. Because, to be honest, who'd
want those fucking arseholes hounding you and claiming they
knew you and understood your work?

Well said dog_belch. I couldn't even read that article fully
as the writer was so far up his own arse it began to leave a
shitty taste in my mouth after the first few paragraphs. But
it is to be expected from cookd and bombd, which despite
being a decent Morris resource, also suffers from the rabid
stench of elitest fanboyism.

TDT and Brass Eye are done and finished. After the furore
over the paedophile special, it's no wonder Morris hasn't
gone back to that format since.

First episode: Was none too impressed.
Second episode: I was inlove.

I can't wait for a second series.

I couldn't be arsed to read that overlong diatribe because
the writer came across as a complete cunt. Maybe he saw
himself mirrored in Barley?

The DVD of Nathan Barley is excellent too. The overdubbed
episode is cracking.

Well, once again, dan has eloquently put the point across.

You cunt.

yeah. it's a bit self-indulgent, really, isn't it?

i mean, there's something to be said for being an autechre
fanboi or whatever, but this chap comes off like that alan
partridge fanatic in that episode of "i'm alan partridge"..

i find nathan barley hilarious because i know someone who's
quite like him, and i really, really like the way the
["normal"] characters in it are totally believeable and
well-developed, and how they play off each other and
interact.

I tried to read that but I read enough sixth form bollocks
when I was in the sixth form. In fact, I'm pretty sure I
wrote a lot of shite like that too.

Surely they should've grown out of it by now?

They didn't like the show. Fine. That's enough for gods
sake. Just report that you've been informed there's a new
series and stop there.

Bit self indulgent?

That's like saying Hitler went a tad OTT on the old killing.
It's pure fucking overkill.

I wonder if they heard the jokes passing over their heads?

The sycophants in the comments are pathetic.

Ha! Sorry, I am cunt though, you're quite right.

I do really like the "Dan" character in "Nathan..", I do
empathise with him, not just his kind of despair with "the
idiots" but also the fact that he isn't all that talented
either and a bit of a loser, not entirely likeable with a
bit of a mean streak. Good man.

It wasn't as laugh-out-loud funny as the tvgohome pieces,
but very quite involving as a comedy-drama sort of thing.
Julian Barrant is a great actor, I'd like to see him in more
stuff.

great, so i guess i'll just shit up the thread with my post.
on another note, i just saw the armando iannucci shows, and
they're great.

Spot on Dog_Belch!
The whole CaB crew is also just like that. They thrive on
criticizing their hero, it makes them feel alive, clever and
important. They wind me up no end, thinking they know Morris
better than himself, knowing what he really meant to do and
here to tell him how he failed.
All the talentless twats who act like they're the new shit
as if they were writting a new BBC success comedy and
reinventing the genre, when in fact all they are capable of
is moaning on and on because Morris isn't feeding them what
they want. GO DO YOUR OWN STUFF!
I can't see these people enjoying stuff much. They've
forgotten how to.
