I had a few pairs of Troop trainers circa 89-91. I remember thinking they were awesome. Looking back I'm not so sure.
Did anyone have any or remember them?

Never heard of 'em. Looking at some old photos of myself from about 1992 the other day, I saw I had some superb converse trainers that I'd completely forgotten about.

Wasn't there one called 'Betsy', and its super troop trainer power was to wet itself? Wait, that was Betsy Wetsy.

So back then your head didn't block out everything else in the picture? The mystery grows.

I bet you 'wetsy'd' yourself well into your teens and still do now, if something startles you.

Jesus... I'm sitting here trying to be civilized, then suddenly you lash out at me, completely humuliating me in front of everyone. I will not be voting for you next election (simply because I don't vote, but if I did I would even go so far as to vote for the other guy.)

troop is the coolest make of trainers ever made. i had a few pairs in the early nineties and i wish i still had 'em, coz then i'd look well good.
anyway, it's definitely time for a troop return....they still make british knights (which are probably the 2nd coolest trainers), so why not troop?
BRING BACK TROOP!!!

I always wanted a pair of Troops, but never got any.
Similar labels were British Knights, SPX and the too cool Travel Fox.

Cool trainers (that your parents had to buy you), what a marketing coup.

Travel Fox! Wow forgot about them....yeah I had a quality pair of those.....and some LA Gear Air System (no lights though) that cost about £120 - used to wear 'em to school and get bollocked coz they were white. I didn't care though coz I thought I looked cool and like a rebel

I was never allowed Troop Trainers but I was the first kid at my school to have Adidas Shell toes. I only had shell toes because that is what Anthrax wore! How rock \m/ was I as a kid?

Haha, I remember those. School was an awesome experience, with some wicked social rules.
I remember when Air bubble trainers first came out. They were highly regarded, but if the actual enclosure was made of plastic instead of the genuine soft rubber, it was universally acknowledged that the kid must get a beatdown. Good times.

back then it was just shoes and a tracksuit... maybe a kango hat....
now it's all that and the ipod, celphone, backpack... or whatever gadget that some youth marketer decided is a must have.
oh for the simpler times. *wink*

When I was at school (1988-1993) if someone had a new pair of Nike Airs with an exposed air cushion (a window) it was fair play to go after it with a compass.
I had some wicked Nike Airs with a fat velcro strap that were trashed in this way.
Does anyone remember reading in the papers around 1991/1992 that people were getting mugged for their pricey Nike trainers?
