DIARY OF THE DEAD

Set during the same time-frame as Night Of The Living Dead.

Apparently, after this, it will be World Of The Dead, or
Planet Of The Dead as it should be, so we can have

Beneath The Planet of The Dead

etc

etc.

And. . then.. all the remakes of.. those. Fuck me, it's an
empire that'll last 1000 years!

The new Dawn of the Dead film was awesome (better than the
original IMO). The Land of the Dead was the worst in the
series, despite the big budget.

I liked the two I've seen: the first one and also the one in
the commercial center.

Land of the Dead was absolutely terrible. I agree that the
remake of Dawn of the Dead was pretty cool though, but not
quite on the level of the original (and no Goblin!).

I don't expect much from Diary of the Dead, but we'll see.

I was hoping Tom Savini would reappear. Danny Trejo would be
cool too.

I agree that Land of The Dead was the weakest of the series.
The Dawn remake was very good, but come on, nothing beats
the original! :P

I think the 1968 original is just pipped to the post by the
remake on account of the "suprise norks" during the credits.
Still a very good film (although they're markedly different
in style and atmosphere).

"They're coming for you, Barbara" :)

Ceri, Ceri, Dawn of The Dead was a remake of Dawn of The
Dead, not The Night Of The Living Dead! :D

i think my favourite might be day of the dead, released in
1985, with the scientists and soldiers in the bunker.

still haven't seen any of the new(ish) films.

AH, when you said "original", I thought you meant the very
first film in the series, as opposed to the original of that
actual film. I don't really count the OTD remakes as
remakes, I see them more as just the next parts in the
series.

The problem with Land of the Dead is that he was trying to
keep that whole "The zombies are us" subtext in it, but he
was not nearly as subtle as he was in the other films, that,
and other zombie films (i.e. Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days
Later) have made Romero's old zombie archetypes obsolete.

I think he so overwhelmed himself with the word 'subtext'
that his brain ceased functioning after that. Perhaps?

eh, wrong followup, my post was to oddioblender

i also think the first action in the night of the living
dead remake is absolutely fabulous, absolute terror...

and that great camera zooming back, when the car crashes
into the fuel station at the crossing man...

''Charmless'' is definitely the word that springs to mind
when I think of Land of the Dead. Everything about it and
everbody in it is so unlikeable. Diary could be good though.
Or horrible. I dunno. The only zombie related thing I have
faith in right now is Resident Evil 5.
