Well, I can never remember what came out when but these have
seen me through the year nicely:

Keith Jarrett 'The Koln Concert' - what an album. It steered
me towards the ECM catalogue and into classical/modern
composition. Miles, in addition to the amazing music he
made, is also a great jumping board for so many other great
artists.

Justin Timberlake 'My Love' - not an album I know, but in
terms of sound punching me in the gut, this was it. Much is
made of Timbaland's production and it really is not all
postmodern, orientalist posturing.

Scott Walker 'The Drift' - I haven't properly digested this,
it's going to take time. And I have to stop clicking my dial
to the sublime 'Scott 4'. I'll no doubt be going back again
and again to 'The Drift' in 2007.

Masada 'Live in Tapei 1995' - I've been meaning to check the
oft-mentioned John Zorn for years and this year I finally
got started. This two disc live album pressed my button that
says "jazz" while simultaneously hitting the one that says
"gimme something new".

There are loads more but they escape me at this moment and i
don't want to go on and on and on...

someone should make a cool timbaland tracks wikipedia list
and you'd get of these signature things quick

butletmestart:
jay-z - dirt of your shoulder
aaliyah - pick it up and try again
any missy elliot track
my love, aight
kelis - milkshake
genuwine - my pony
destiny's child - get on the bus

Thom Yorke - The Eraser

and since we're talking about timbaland for no particular
reason, he did 2 or 3 beats for Aaliyah's last album and I
think that period might have been his peak

frank zappa - imaginary diseases
squarepusher - hello everything
can't think of a third one at the moment..

jonesy - koln concert was 31 years ago, but yeah, what does
it matter? it's astounding stuff. my first choice is similar
to it; imaginary diseases is a concert from 74 (i think) but
was only mastered and released recently.

I've bought quite a few releases this year but I'm not sure
if that many of them came out this year. I'd probably have
to say the Bonnie Prince Billy album and Josephine Foster's
"A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing" and "What Is It That Ever Was"
(which I wasn't that keen on at first listen but has really
grown on me).
I kept meaning to get Ys since everyone says it's great. I
got Milk-Eyed Mender for chrimbo so that should spur me into
action cos it's great.

...with honey on.

I also picked up Arvo Part's 'Tabula Rasa' on ECM which is
superb, along with some John Surman, Meredith Monk, Eberhard
Weber, Paul Hillier and Paul Giger. Most of this was thanks
to a chance meeting with an old friend of my uncle whilst
getting lost jogging in a park.
