I've been listening to mostly old music this year

Mogwai - Mr. Beast
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
Clark - Body Riddle
AFX - Chosen Lords (representing the entire Analord series)
The Knife - Silent Shout

1. Burial - Burial
2. Various Production - The World is Gone
3. Kode 9 & Spaceape- Memories of the Future

Interesting, as I initally thought Burial's album was
technically proficient, but boring to listen to. I didn't
think Kode 9's album was really all that good, but 9 Samurai
is so strong it drags the rest of the album into the top 3.

'Ys' is an overrated pile 'o wank and there have only been 5
or 6 memorable 'electronic' releases this year. Techno has
had a lot of good stuff, but I can't keep up with all the
fucking singles and mixesthat come out every other day of
the week.

Baaaahh

Also 'Freak Out!' got re-released in it's original 1966
vinyl stereo mix, and also a studio outtakes and alternate
mixes...the set is called 'Mofo - Project/Object'. You'd
probably know that though? It's in 2cd and 4cd variations.

...last year? ok then:

1. The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute
2. Księżyc - Księżyc
3 (ex aequo). Eels - Blinking Lights and Other Revelations
3 (ex aequo). Blackalicious - The Craft
(can't decide, they're completely different anyway)

but i still haven't heard some records that may deserve a
place in there. OK Cowboy by Vitalic or Late Registration by
Kanye West for example.

1. Deadbeat - New World Observer
2. Dictaphone - Vertigo II
3. Clark - Body Riddle

There are other good 2006 albums too, but these are the ones
that I have listened to most.

You're on a dubstep tip right now eh Ceri? I downloaded Mary
Anne Hobbs' compilation the other night. I've only played a
few tracks but I think this is music that will take time to
reveal itself.

Hmmm, I can't think of that many released this year that I
bought, but Silent Shout by The Knife comes to mind. I just
love the whole sound of it.

Also, I see a bunch of people picking Squarepushers new one,
but I thought it was horrible. I didn't even listen to it a
second time.

I really like that album as well. I've heard most of the
songs and I must say they're really nice. All it is is dance
music, but when you want dance music this does the trick!

Probably because he's not a music snob. Music is music, and
if it's good who cares what style it is or who it's by?

Well, guess he thought it was good. You can't universally
say something is good or bad, because it depends on each
person who listens to it.
