I think the main reason I got the others wrong is due to the length of the longer melodies. And of course, some instruments are harder than others.

everone seems to have quite high scores. i'm wondering if that its actually an easy test, or becuase most people here have some kind of musical ability. it would be interesting to see the results on a wider demographic.

Interesting yes, but there are some things to consider there.
*people might not wan't to post if they got a bad score *people might lie about their score *if you have a feeling that you will do well at the test, you will be more motivated to take it in the first place
(i probably wouldnt take a "mathematical intelligence test, because i know i would suck at it)
*people on xltronic might just be better than the rest :P

Though, I Can't see how this has anything to do with tone deafness. It is 90-95% musiCal memory. WhiCh is hardly a test of "musiCal skills."
He also says that exCellent musiCians rarely sCore above 80%.
I mean to say: I think this guy has no idea what he is talking about. While this is still Cool to do, I think a better test for tone deafness would be here. It isnt sCored though, and requires a minimal amount of musiCal knowledge.

this test is bullshit. I got 91.7% on my first try. it doesn't test your ability to distinguish tones out of each other. it's just a simple memory test. try doing some interval tests. those are allot harder and will give you a more honest result.

Actually Jake Mandell was a prominent IDM guy a couple of years ago. That probably shocks and astounds you.

I never listen to any IDM artist that records under just their normal name, consequently I've never heard Jake Mandell, Chris Clark, Jamie Lidell, Karlheinz Stockhausen or Simon Lob, among others.
