what percentage of vsnares' music is shit?

Probably more than that. Actually, its not so much shit as
it is samey and forgetable. But when he does hit the spot,
he is superb.

"Die winnipeg die die die fuckers" is an example of his
greatness. But it is also SO LOUD. Honestly, its the loudest
CD I have ever heard. I have to knock the volume down 50%
just to keep it at a level which is consistant with every
other record out there. Apart from Clark, obviously.

pretty little, as he is rrally solid and makes a great work
imo

I would say the % of shit is lower than in the case of
aphex... like autechre snares is pretty regular, and his
quality is really high

anyway there are some weaker albums such as horse and goat
and winnipeg and meathole

and I even like those

offline melack from barcielwave on 2006-11-05 10:55 [#01998011]
Points: 9099 Status: Regular

I
cant opine about quality...
just can say i dont like about 77'7% of his music.
about the rest, the portion i like, id say 50% is ok and
became fastly boring, and the rest 50% is considered by me
as amazing stuff.
thats, definetly, arround 11% of great music to my ears.
definetly not worth buying his albums...

How do I word this so as not to offend the fans...?

Well, basically, I heard some snares stuff a few years back.
Downloaded 3 "songs" and listened to them. What I heard
sounded like an angry stepchild of musique concrète and
circuit bending. On the positive side, I think Snares
"creates" ("finds" might be the more appropriate term if he
deals with much circuit bending) some of the most
interesting sounds I've ever heard. I know I can't judge an
entire library of work by 3 songs, but while the sounds were
indeed interesting, their arrangement left something to be
desired. I'm not going to give any percentage values because
it just wouldn't be fair to V. Snares given that I've heard
next to none of his music.

i'd say 95%, from what i know.

what's the point? well, if we repeat this experiment often
enough, the average percentage will converge. and this
percentage, believe it or not, will actually be THE
percentage of vsnares' hit/miss ratio. like true science.
xlt is where idm becomes science

Honestly, I think that Rossz Csillag Allat Született is one
of the better records in my collection. I have a deep-seated
respect for anyone who can come up with flowing beats in 7/8
which most, if not all, of that record is in.

hmm. I think a lack of "flow" may be the general problem I
had with the songs that I did hear. I'll have to check out
this "Rossz Csillag Allat Született" as I'm getting the
feeling Snares has more to offer than what I've been exposed
to.

amazing isn't it. and it's happening right now. we're
actually experiencing it as we speak.

and to be part of the experiment i'd go for
15% hit
80% miss
5% undecided

science, eat your heart out!

is it jealousy that you guys have towards aaron?

he is one of the most talented musicians nowadays, and the
fact that he releases tons of albums seems to bother you all
a lot...

he is excellent indeed

and hospitality is one of the best things hes done in last
couple of years... and its probably the best album in 2006

Oh look. Another "I love snares me" "Well I hate him" "yeah,
well I love him" "yeah, well he's crap" "no he's not" "yes
he is" thread. Just what I wanted for Christmas.

"Ah but at least he gets people talking..."

Indeed, and just look at some of the gems from this thread:

"About 3%" -penexpers
"I" -melack
"I didn't realise it was music" -dog_belch
"biscuit rims" -hanal (this is my favourite one :)
"i used a calculator" -Cnut

I don't know if i could classify a percentage of his music..
I think i'd need to sit down and listen through everything
and make notes.. and man he has a lot of tunes.

I did hear him play a gig at the beginning of last year in
Dublin and he absolutely kicked ass. Brilliant gig, he was
highly entertaining and at the end he waded down into the
crowd and it was funny looking at people crowd around him
cause he really is a giant. He's incredibly tall and stocky.
It looked a little like some giant surrounded by his
minions.
