Handwriting / Fonts - Your Help Needed!

As part of a module at uni, I have decided to create some
custom typefaces (fonts) based on handwriting. Since
everyone writes differently from the next person, I am
looking to get about 5-10 good, vivid handwriting styles and
convert them into usable TTF files. The next stage of the
project is to create some actual designs using these
typefaces for a yet to be finalised brief.

So basically, i'm looking for your help. What you will need
are the following:

* A pen/paint/caligraphy pen/felt-tip/whatever to write with
(black prefered)
* A white sketch pad (A3+ would be a good size, but
basically anything will do so long as you can write all the
characters onto it)
* A scanner (300 DPI/grayscale/JPG output required)

I require the following letters/numbers/symbols:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
1234567890
¬`!"£$%^&*()-_+=
{}[]:;@'~#|,.<>\ / ?

Once these are completed and scanned, you can send them to
brisk @ supanet dot com or just leave a message in here/send
me a PM. If you help, I will also send you the finished
typeface once it is completed. Note that I may not decide to
use your handwriting as converting them to actual typefaces
is quite time consuming, so depending on the response, I
probably won't be using them all. If yours isn't used, you
won't get the font obviously.

If you decide to do more than one, that is even better. Show
off your flair and creativity - even abstract writing is
encouraged.

Many thanks in advance!

Some mad graffiti font would be awesome. As simple or as

Preferably A3, just so the type is easier to convert.

An example of the minimum size the type needs to be

I'm especially interested in any caligraphy savvy people out
there, so if you or anyone you know is skilled with this,
then let em know!

I'll be using a combination of illustrator and fontlab. Both
are pretty complex if you've never used em before. Actually,
i've never used fontlab before either, but since the main
vector data will be made within illustrator, it shouldn't be
too tricky.

http://www.myspace.com/thepuzl

If you look at the 2nd picture down from my mini-portfolio
on the right, that's the kind of typeface i'd really like.
But joined-up text is a lot more difficult to work with, and
not every letter joins with each other. But it still looks
fantastic.

The "worn" effect is quite easy to create since I will just
print off your example sheets onto a lazerjet printer, and
use a transfer pen which bleeds the ink onto the paper
underneath. Scan in again, do a few more modifications, and
voila.

Yep, thats a brush script. I have a few like that. They're
created the same way any other typeface is made, except the
tail of each letter is in the same place to enable to the
text to join onto the next one. And obviously, the curve
also exists at the front of each letter so the tail can
connect to it, thus creating the joined up effect. It's more
work, but looks nice.

Oh, and that Mark E Smith font is great. Anything like that
would be awesome. Don't worry about consistancy with the
weight and kerning of each character - it's more about the
artistic flair and idiosyncracies of each letter than making
something which looks overly neat.

I usually use a thin fountain-pen (with black ink),
but it was too thin for drawing letters that big. : )

Thanks to all who helped. I've started work on my typeface
first, and this shit takes absolutely ages. Admitably, this
took a few days to draw, but since my eyes aren't what they
used to be, they needed a bit of work in photoshop to align
everything properly on the bassline etc....

Heres the first font, before its actually vectorised and
compiled:

White BG / Black Text

and inverted:
Black BG / White Text

PS. ignore kerning/leading at this stage - its just all
thrown together in photoshop, so not spacing rules actually
exist yet.

Opinions very much welcome at this stage, as I might change
a few things before I start the vector process proper.

Rough Cut.ttf is now complete!

Rough

Rougher

In total, it took about 5 days to complete (though I had to
learn some new programs + techniques, so the next ones
should be half that). Comments welcome!

Oh and uzim, sorry but the font won't be available to
download for a while. I'm gonna keep it for myself for a bit
;)

is less tight :)
