good hip-hop

ok, i've been working at this place for over a year now and
i've had it with the shite, bitch, ho, gangsta rap they
listen to! Can someone reccomend some decent hip-hop that
doesn't glorify guns or have lyrics that condone violence
towards women, yes, i've heard it all...

i want to take some good hip hop in to listen to.. i know it
exists because i've heard that Roots Manuva song 'witness'
so there must be some good stuff out there, i downloaded MF
Doom, seems ok so far.. any others? Mos Def maybe?

But maybe you could sneak in some Dancehall, because some of
that stuff is nice, at least nicer to listen to than what
you describe there. Just call it hiphop, they won't know the
difference.

Sizzla for example, good shit.

Get the Black Star album with Mos Def and Talib Kweli from
1999, that's pretty good, also any rap before about 1988 is
basically just about partying and how good the rapper is at
rapping. ;)

The first two are both great, awfully deep was awfully shite
in my opinion. I haven't been listening to much hip hop
lately but this is really good.

Fuck. Underground hiphop is seriously hurting. The last
thing I want to listen to is someone rapping about their
girlfriend and buying milk, or trying to sound as wierd as
possible. I would rather listen to something about guns and
crack that has a good beat and synth work behind it than a
bunch of people looping unprocessed Jackson 5 beats and
rapping about bycicles.

hip hop or rap isnt shit at all.
it depends of what kind of hip hop u are listenin.

for example prefuse73, or anticon laber are used to product
a lot of good music.

« i really enjoyed 'quannum spectrum' when it came out.

> that's the album that got me into hip-hop : )
i'm still discovering... but enjoying very much these ones:

• OutKast - Aquemini
• OutKast - Stankonia
• Latyrx - The Album
• Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
• Quannum Spectrum
• De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
• The Roots - Game Theory
• Quasimoto - The Unseen (though it's really
weird/"special")

i actually have all the albums by OutKast and Blackalicious
and i like pretty much everything they've made; the ones i
noted there are my favourites.

i'm sure i'm forgetting some...
