fuckin hell - i was on vacation for two weeks and today i launched onik and it tells me: "you have 3 days to increase your upload ratio" shit fuck shit - i was sure that only sharing the downloaded files will be sufficient but somehow nobody wanted my seeds... oink told me have to uplad new torrents but i just cannot get it working. i use utorrent - so i click on "create new torrent", select the desired folder and click "seed" ok - i save the file name and go to oink, click "upload" and show him the file i created. and what ? now i have to download the file i upladed to oink they say but it doesn't work - ot won't start... what am i doing wrong ? please help me because i don't want to loose my account and i really want to share stuff :| thx |

you do not need to download the file you uploaded, you just need to right-click on the torrent you created and click "Update tracker". have you tried following the guide one of the Oink idiots made? |

i've had no problems whatsoever with oink. except that my connection sucks ass and often the leechers get a greater radio improvement than me wuth my own uploads. |

I aint had a single problem with Oink. If you have a problem with it then just stick with Soulseek. However if you're willing to follow their rules then you're guaranteed good quality files and good speeds. And if you want to fake their ratio then fine but you're not gonna stay on Oink for very long. Uploading files on there is a piece of piss, it took me about 5 minutes to google how to do it. if you seach on here then I made a very simple step-by-step guide to making torrents for oink with uTorrent. |

there is a fundamental mistake concerning Oink - the ratio of amount of uploads to people that can actually download is completely off kilter. with most torrentsites, you'll download something and then seeding alone will almost always be enough to keep your ratio near 1.0 download something from Oink and you'll be amazed if you've uploaded anything yourself - that'll be because the other 2 leechers are already done, just like you. so what happens? to keep up their ratio, everyone starts uploading any bit of sound they can find, which generates even more torrents, etc. etc. and Bogola certainly has a point - it is quite hard to find things to upload. besides all of this - the general mentality at Oink won't win any prizes - lots of arrogance and snobbery. you may only upload when you've ripped your files according to our 5 million handy rules, we're all about quality - it's hard to remember we're still talking about a fucking torrentsite here. |

Here we go sadist, this was for the last time someone wanted stuff: File -> Create New Torrent, under Select Source click Choose Directory, and choose which directory you want to make a torrent of. (This step only needs to be done once)-> under Trackers paste the url that is listed in the Upload section in the Oink site. It should look something like : http://tracker.oink.me.uk/tracker/xxxxxxxxxxxx/announce Next click Create and Save as, and it'll ask you where you want to put the .torrent file (I keep mine all together in uTorrent program directory). Now with that .torrent file you go onto the Oink upload page and you can click the browse button and then locate that .torrent you just made. Now fill in the rest of the details on the page and click the "Do It" at the bottom. This will now send you a new torrent file and uTorrent (or whatever client you use) should pop up. Now choose the folder where all the mp3s were stored (note that you may have to choose the folder one level up (eg. If I made a torrent from the directory my_cds\autechre - gantz graf, you choose the directory my_cds) as in uTorrent it automatically appends the directory name that you first made the .torrent from). It should then hopefully count up to 100% and you'll be seeding it. Tis a piece of piss. |

they have statistics of your downloads/uploads so if you had like 35 kb upload for a few months before and now suddenly 70 they'll get suspicious. matrigs@wp.pl if someone would be that kind.... |

Their loss I guess, but I don't get it; this thing was freed so as to allow as many fans as possible to get it (instead of buy it from bootleg sellers)... I guess they only care about 'quality' |
