Sweet game and better than JSW (and the other sequels) imo.
If you like this, check out "Subterranean Nightmare" (also on the Spectrum). A little known, but monstrously hard platformer.

Great fun, although I can't get past level 3 (after a few tries).
As for a version with save function, try some spectrum emulator or something, I'm sure they have state saves... I think?
I once saw a really fascinating documentary with Matthew Smith being interviewed... I'm pretty sure the documentary itself was about him, but I'll be damned if it actually exists outside my memory hole! (It may or may not have been "Thumb Candy", which is listed on wiki.)

Try Spectaculator; great shareware emulator. 30 day free trial. It allows save games and all the features I can think of.

Yes, it was sweet. Being able to write things on the blackboards was awesome. I didn't think much of the (technically superior) sequel "Back 2 Skool".
Rockstar's game "Bully" is meant to be inspired by Skool Daze, but I've not played it.

I'm addicted to Manic Miner. I'm shit at it and can't get past level 9, but it is fucking class. It was programmed by a 19 year old who became a millionaire, because it was so state of the art at the time.

I used to own this on the spectrum, and this game single handedly caused me to destroy my system. It was just so difficult. In fact, a lot of these old games were like this... frustrating, but strangely addictive.

These games had to be hard because there were only a few levels, to make them last. It's not that difficult when you get used to the controls, how far he can jump, pausing at the beginning of the level to have a little think, etc. I've been playing this all weekend my little brother thinks I'm mental.
There is a good walkthrough on google video if you get stuck.

Remeber to get the key at the centre right of Eugene's Lair first, and then get the one colest to the exit. This gives you enough time to get there before Eugene.

010101: That's the one. I lost the last 2 of my 3 lives there. Timing it so the 2 toilets and Eugene are out of the way is tricky (you need to make sure that when jumping to avoid the black toilet, your head doesn't clip the yellow one).
Swears: Yep, I never forget that one.

What's the story behind that? I know there were rumours of "Jet Set Willy meets the taxman", but I didn't think that ever came to fruition.
As a nipper, a mate had a (proper legit- not just a pirate tape with "JSW 2" written on it) tape of JSW2 that I saw a few times, but that would never load. He reckoned it had worked once then never loaded again since.
I DLed a supposed JSW2 from a rom site, but IMO it wasn't up to the standard of the first 2 games and wondered if it was a fan's attempt at making a version of it?
