He pretty much just presses play on a selection of album
tracks and waggles the eq about a bit, you're not missing
anything.

I have cunningly mixed the dying reverb end off the cd
version of Herr Bar onto the end of the mix to cut off
Hobbs' overbearing gushiness without having it just stop
suddenly.

See the things I do for you.

Aye, the absolute high end for breezeblock sets is going to
be 192kbps or thereabouts, depending on where ye record
from. Apparently the FM broadcast is 192, digital radio is
128 and the freeview version is VBR:

Radio 1 128k - 192k
1xtra 128k - 160k
Radio 2 128k - 192k
Radio 3 192k - 192k
Radio 4 128k - 192k
5 Live 80k* - 96k*
5 Live SX 64k* - 96k*
6 Music 128k - 160k
BBC7 80k* - 160k
Asian Network 64k* - 128k
World Service 64k* - 64k*

Classic FM 160k - n/a
Virgin 160k - n/a
Everything else 128k** - 128k

* = mono
** = or less if it's mono.

...apparently. Personally i won't be satisfied until i can
hear every single creak and fart in the bbc studios in
crystal-clear 5:1, sort it aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhht

I see no reason to further degrade an FM recording with mp3
compression.

I listened to it again today. The mixing is untidy in
places, and what possessed him to play Missy Elliot? I
remember Richard saying he liked her music once, maybe
that's why.
