eh.. I just opened itunes, and I was starting playback of a
song, but it was kind of loud and people have gone to sleep,
so I was going to lower the volume and thought the volume
slider up top would be the fastest way (as opposed to using
the remote to lower the stereos main volume), but the second
I dragged it from its position (full), the song became
immensely loud and started clipping like hell. I slid the
fader all the way down in panic, and then slowly back up..
it's still clipping at the lowest volume setting, but it
isn't particularly loud, it's just distorted.. the mixer
thingie for my soundcard shows what would be normal sound
output at this level and everything else works, but
everything played through itunes is completely distorted to
hell.. I've checked, and the volume enhancement and those
other "enhancement" thingies aren't checked, and I even
checked and unchecked them to make sure they weren't
checked, but the sound still clips... anyone got any ideas
about what it is? searching the web didn't really find me
anything useful.

i have exactly this problem, it freezes when it says
"updating ipod" right?

it doesn't freeze, it "transfers" the file, registers a new
free space value, then says "updating ipod", changes the
space back to what it was before i transferred and then just
stands there like a fucking cunt. so, basically the same
except for freezing.

Imagine if Microsoft had released this. There'd be an
article on slashdot and a dupe as well. Then there'd be
multiple blog postings.

As for the new iTunes. It's not bad. Some strange changes.
Also, the cover start feature isn't really worth anything.
Yeah it's pretty but when most releases don't have cover art
and the downloading doesn't work then what am I to do? Spend
hours importing cover art for a whim?

"what am I to do? Spend

Yes, and filling in every last bit of v2 ID3 tag info too.
Otherwise people won't trade with you on slsk. Remember that
bloke who cancelled your DLs because the way your mp3s were
labelled? I bet he imports all the right cover art.

i'm still on itunes 6.0.1.3... why should i upgrade?

it'll only get slower and clunkier with features i'll never
use, surely?

I was kinda dissapointed with the whole cover art thing -
even when it's picked up a load of covers it doesn't look or
feel that great; like something someone coded up in an
afternoon and forgot to put any polish into.. thought Apple
were the UI wizards?...
