Could we make new torrents of the boc/afx/squarepusher live
compilations, adding the actual mp3s to the torrents instead
of just single zip files?

We don't all live on T1 lines, like the compiler of these
torrents, and a lot of us already have a good deal of the
stuff that's included within.

It's my opinion that if the torrents are kept the way they
are, they (and perhaps the tracker) will become redundant.

yes i think it should be seperate files and they still could
be in one torrent (you can upload a folder and download one
out of the many files in utorrent)
also they should have need formatted file names like which
artist-where-date (maybe they are)

Yes I think elusive just didnt realise you could do that
when he made these torrents, but I downloaded the whole lot
and Im glad i did although i think I bollocksed up my
roommates game of... whatever it is, theres wizards and shit
and he wears a headset and does spells and shit, shit like
that

exactely
im not going to START FROM SCRATCH when we have plenty of
people downloading and seeding

that does not make sense to start back at 1 seed when it's a
4gig file

you're cable modem has a greater downstream throughput than
ds-1/t1 line anyways... so wtf.

the tracklistings are out there in my other thread
if you just want one or two of the live sets, search
soulseek and youll find it.

:-/

and like i said before
im not going to have 60 got damn torrents running on my box

that would mean
with 40k upstream
i would be SHARING LESS THAN 1K BYTE/S ON EACH OF THE
TORRENTS

NO!

you can make a new torrent for the folder and let people
redownload the torrent file, if they point it to their
folder it will start seeding it

how baout no

offline redrum from the allman brothers band (Ireland) on 2006-08-07 11:23 [#01950079]
Points: 12878 Status: Addict

yeah it'd be one torrent, multiple files included within.

no need to get loud and rude..

and yes, it would make more sense, in my opinion, to start
from scratch. it's looking to the future instead of just the
short-term. these torrents, however valuable they are, are
pretty useless in their current state..

the best argument for btw is, you can keep it seeding and
listen to it instead of just wasting gigs seeding

how hte fuk are they pretty useless in their current state?

you still have to download the whole fucking torrent before
you can use any of the files

there's only one extra step in this way and that's to unrar
the fuking file then delete the rar

i realize you can do a "folder" torrent, you don't have to
keep re-iterating that.

im not going to kill this and make all the people seeding
have to restart or go thru the process of pointing to their
folder

if you dont have the extra 4gb to unrar the files then buy a
mac

if you guys dont have the spare 4gb then ill do it when i
get home

i just hope the seeders come back proper

Youre not getting it elusive, thus I will hexplain:

1. You can make one torrent of the directory, with multiple
files within. You only seed as one torrent, but many
bittorrent clients allow leechers to choose only the files
they want within the directory. It is absolutely no
different to you whether the torrent is zipped or not.

2. When people unarchive the torrent they are likely to
delete the original download and hence stop seeding, meaning
you as the original seeder have to carry the weight of all
the seeding, and the torrent wont last long.

ok i didnt know you could still pick and choose your files
then
i will do this when i get home and find time

i guess if the torrent's gone now, people that haven't
finished dling can't unpack and resume downloading the data.
if they have finished it's best when elusive keeps the names
and files as much the same as possible and people should be
able to figure out how to seed from their download
