[London] Going out alone

I'm sick and tired of organising nights out with my mates
and having them all bailing out on me at the last minute.
Fucks sake. I evidently made the wrong friends in secondary
school, not that they're bad blokes - they're just
incredibly boring - and now I'm totally suffering the
consequences.

This is the Summer after my A-Levels, I should be going out
and getting totally hammered and clubbing the nights away
before Uni kicks in. I'm going to be studying Law so I'm
guessing I wont have a large amount of free time once my
course starts and that's why it's so painful seeing the
summer slip away. Last night was the final straw as I was
supposed to have a party of some 12+ people meeting with me
to go to the Gardening Club's free entry Student Night in
Covent Garden. How many turned up? 1. And he didn't even
have ID to get in. The whole thing was a total wash-out.

/rant

Being on your own in a nightclub sucks because you look
around and there are just lots and lots of groups of people.
Does anyone here have any suggestions as to whats a good
club in London with a friendly atmosphere to meet new
people? Or maybe advice on having a good night out on your
own? I don't hold up much hope for the situation (I have a
good 8 weeks left of nothingness), but comment please.

You know, if you can't afford to play with the big boys,
there's always Tiger Electronics.

Oi, cockfoster, I'm not boring. Sometimes things are just
impossible to do.

May the power be with you. I'm sure they'll be some things
comming up soon.

your friends are all a bunch of arseholes and they probably
know it too. don't let it get you down. they'll get what's
coming to 'em.

personally, going out alone to a bar is pretty impossible
for me, but when there's some "IDM PARTY" i dont mind at
all.

dunno about you. i would just drink at home and tell all
your 'friends' to sod off if they call or email.

maybe your friends dont like going to studenty clubs. they
are really fucking awful after all. also you havent
organised properly if you get there and only one person
turns up. someone like you will probably love university and
fit right in so dont worry about it, have a muller fruit
corner and relax

Don't worry mate, students do fuck all.
That's one stereotype that's actually true, you'l prolly
meet loads of ravey mates, I woudn't sweat it.

I had to do Glade practically alone, as I got a last minute
second hand ticket from a friend of a friend, and went with
a bunch of people I barely knew. I met I_x_ten, though, so
all was lovely.

The point is, raves and such can be fun alone.

raves on your own is fine, have some drugas, chat to
strangers. parties too, almost better alone. bars though...
not really

i guess to do things on your own, you have to:

be confident enough to not feel like a loner, or not be
bothered by it.

OR

be confident enough to spark conversation with strangers and
quickly socialise with others.

OR

Get a gameboy.

i kinda wanna go to london. i doubt i would have a good
time, since i'm a neurotic nerd with the habit of drinking
too much once i get going. i'd probably star in a few "happy
slapper" videos by the end of the week.

although actually seeing good music out more than once a
year might be a positive side. maybe i could even ambush
some poor, unsuspecting xltroglodyte. i think i'd only go if
i had someone to go along with me, though. travelling by
yourself seems like it's reserved for autistics and
businessmen.

I goto glamour/tranny clubs for laughs alone, everyone is
friendly and what not. Im serious, if you want a good time
goto a gay club or somewhere with addictive dance music so
you can hang around with weirdo bohemians. I know if I where
at a 'hip hopish' club i'd be totally screwed because im the
antithesis of that culture, whereas in my interests in music
taste I can afford to be a lone ranger, and suprisingly -
You can pull girls even if you're alone (nothing to lose, no
social reputation holding you back, no humiliation if it
backfires).

If its bothering you, just take an E man.

offline swears from junk sleep on 2006-07-19 18:08 [#01940145]
Points: 6474 Status: Lurker

Yeah, being alone is better for pulling, there's nothing
girls hate more than a big group of beered up lads.

Girls are not fish to be pulled in. They are special and
conscious, just like boys.

i'd never go out for a drink by myself i think, but i don't
see a problem in going to a festival or a gig alone..i go
there to listen to music and stuff..

I think that's a good idea, thanks. I also think I'll be
sticking more to raves and gigs, rather than going alone to
bars.
