I bought the first Limp Bizkit album with that awesome DJ Premier track on it but thus ended my flirtation with Nu Metal. Deftones are alright sometimes, just not my thing. |

Musical genre of the 21st century that has become wildly popular in the mainstream. Originally developed by the early 90s nu metal band “KoRn”, the music features simplistic and repetitive melody, songs with no real lyrical meaning or musical direction, vocals that are off-key and either raspy or boy band-esque, absolutely no lead guitar playing, a value over image instead of musical talent and songwriting, and albums that include several “filler” tracks in order to sell better. The bands that follow this trend usually take on a Rap or Death Metal likeness, and deliberately spell their name incorrectly. Nu-Metal bands include KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Staind, Trapt, Slipknot, The Deftones, and Papa Roach. A lot of other bands have intentionally placed themselves into this demographic primarily for publicity and wealth (see Metallica). Nu-Metal craze seems to appeal among the preps and suburban teens of America. See also nu metal, new metal, mallcore, and poser. You stupid fuckin’ hacks need to go listen to some REAL metal. Bands like Iron Maiden, old Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Opeth, King’s X, and Dream Theater. Bands that play from their fuckin’ hearts, have REAL talent, and have songs with true meaning. In closing, go fuck yourself. whoever said nu metal is happier than real metal is a moron. nu metal is all about being sad because your parents hate you for dressing and singing like a fag. who can blame them? Recipe for nu-metal: Take 1 cup real metal, empty out talent, meaning, and originality. Your dish is complete. |

Nu-metal is such a load of shit. Nu-metal gradually phased out as predicted, and the very same idiotic crowd would be seen later jumping on the emo bandwagon, which is popular at the time of writing. The style would drastically change from stupid baggy jeans to horn-rimmed specs, lip piercings, etc. Whatever fad, though, most scenesters have a LiveJournal account. Nu-metal is reviled by dedicated metal purists, particularly classic metal and death/black metal fans. This is because it is seen as a false type of metal. Whether this is true or not, the point is defended by the fact that nu-metal was the epitome of crass commercialism. Tragic also, is the fact that nu-metal is the predominant perception of metal as a whole, which has led to would-be real metal fans writing off an entire genre of inventive and inspiring music. |

The old true metal, like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Annihilator is eqally sickening to me. At this point in my life I can only tolerate a little bit of grind-core like Antigama, middle period Meshuggah and Kobong's "Chmury nie było". Also, the Deftones guys have some talent, you can't deny that. |
