Just woke up. Bit of a sore head and my typing isn't much better than last night, but at least I can correct the typos now, whereas when I tried last night I would make as many as I would solve and was afraid of getting into some sort of infinity-loop of retyping the same post, that would last until sobriety dawned on me. I've not been downstairs yet, but I shall go off to church then come back home to open presents and re-commence drinking. If I manage to time it right, I should be able to have xmas dinner at my house at lunchtime, then over my girlfriend's in the evening. Last night was a wonderful nostalgia trip, about 90% of the people I cared about from school were back home (from all over the UK and in some cases, abroad) and as many different groups of friends were there, there were old acquaintences you wouldn't make the effort to see, but it was nice to bump into them. Funny seeing how much some people had grown up (or not as the case may be) in 5 years. Best was a friend who was a poster-child Tory boy all through school and university, who now he has commenced a job as a defence lawyer, has reconciled his politics to fit his job, rather than vice versa. Likewise, a friend whose politics used to be slightly to the left of those of a mexican drug smuggler (and was himself a fugitive from the law), came to the conclusion that many people were actually selfish, idle and undeserving of his charity and time. He has since become a pillar of his local community, is the manager of a large department store and a volunteer fireman. Funny seeing how people turn out. I just realised I'm turning this thread into a zilty-blog, so I'll stop now. :) |
