That psycho nutjob american chick who was my penpal for a
while before decalring she "loved" me posted 20 cd's.. thats
TWENTY of her favourite songs.

She psoted them about 2 months ago but i only got them the
other day. There was allanis miorrisette, jewel, norah
jones, sarah mcgloughlin, niel young, tracey chapman and all
that shit.
I've a good mind to send her a cd with whitehouse, chaos ad,
vsnares, autechre and ceephax acid madness .. for the
laugh!

I was expecting soem dvd's in th email so was well shocked
with this.

I remember when you used to make your fancy friend a mix
tape, but a 20 CD boxset is, surely, excessive.

those 20 cds.

I think we've lost something with the CD-burning technology
that allows us to throw CD-Rs at mates. Of course you get so
many more albums, but there was something special about
taking the time to put a mixtape together, in realt time. Or
am I being a sad Luddite?

"but there was something special about

"

Exactly, the real time element is crucial here, no drag and
drop with a c-90, and you had to time it right so the last
track didn't cut off at the end. And even if you had high
speed dubbing it never quite worked. Well, not on the crap
bit of plastic I had from Tandy.

offline obara from Utrecht on 2005-12-21 12:40 [#01804591]

high speed dubbing usually lowered the quality of the mix. i
never used that when making a compilation for someone.

Hola Nacmat! Feliz Navidad!

I hear you dog belch. Another tricksy thing was when you had
about two minutes left on the end of a tape, which you
didn't want to leave blank. I used to try a hundred short
tracks until I found one that would fit.
