WATMM there are five or six sparrows outside my office window searching among the icy shrubs for nourishment. together they function quite well rhthmically . . . complex hopping patterns, almost indescernable, yield an efficient method for covering ground. a sparrow's jerk of the head, cocked instantaneously to a new angle, is as pleasantly suprising as an oddly-accented snare hit in an aphex twin break. i sit here staring, trying to make sense of the quintet, and find my head slightly bobbing . . . yes there is a rhythm, and i'm pretty sure it's 4/4, just heavily breaked 4/4, extremely heavily breaked. each sparrow visually represents a pan channel if i were to be listening synesthesiatically on headphones. to the left i have the hi hats of headcocks, mid-left i have the snares of ground-pecks, center i have the subtle mid-bass thud of quirky hopping, mid-right is the idm grabbag weird noise of the hyper-rapid beak/chewing movements, and full right and extra set of hi hats to balance it out. yes, i could sit here all day, it's really quite enjoyable. |
