While conducting a search i saw this written on a blog....
Move over cover buddy say hello to clutter. This freeware (mac only ) app lets you put your CDs anywhere on your desktop just click on the CD cover to listen to it through itunes If you ask me this is way better then cover buddy not just becuse its $25 cheaper but you forgoe having to use any application interface just double-click on the CD cover insteadHave a go and let me know what you think..

well.. sourceforge didn't yield much.. only a linux program for finding images of the covers.. or something.. the descritption was.. vague...
CoverHunter will scan your digital music albums and try to get the cover image for each one. After that, if more than one cover was found, you can choose wich one will be set as the cover for that album. These covers may be used by XMMS, KDE, GNOME, etc.

I've found some more softwares..
Art Importer
EyeJamz (not free, but cheap)
Art Search Engine (doesn't seem like it's actually related to itunes)
Amazon Cover Search
iTCover (looks very beta)
Amazing Cover Search (looks the best, but also isn't free)
I'm gonna try out the art importer one first, I think.

cover buddy allows you to browse through your itunes library by looking at the album art, not just the title of the album or something.
most of thost things i listed just let you find the album art i think..

i don't really understand how this art importer is working. it doesn't look like it's saving the file seperately. it is embedding the artwork into the mp3... the filesize of each mp3 is increasing by 20kb or so.
i didn't really know that was possible.

yeah, i'm definately thinking this is more trouble than it is worth. at least until it becomes more automated and/or integrated with itunes or whatever player/organizer you have.

Whilst I had working internet last night I managed to test out most of these. Some wouldn't run, some were just shit. I'm with epohs. Shame there's nothing that does it. Would be so nice :)
