I went to see them last night and they were great before singing the revamped Kali-Fornia Uber Alles. Mr Biafra said that after 9/11 Crechen (former Canadian PM) and Bush ('Christian' Warlord) came to an agreement that draft dodgers would not be allowed into Canada. With the draft fast aproacing in the US (Not suprisingly they are having a hard time recruiting new troops). I was hoping that someone here could find validity to his statement.
I for one welcome draft dodgers into Canada. 1) They have similar belifes to most Canadains 2) They have exepted the fact that they will never be able to recieve benefit
3) Canada need more people

DOA opened and did a pretty unremarkable set. Unfortunatly I think they have had their time but definatly left a mark.
The Melvins opened with a feedbacky experimental number and really pushed the envelope doing great breaks and time changes. The thing I love about the Melvins is that my favorite elements of bands like Nirvana were really heavily influenced by them. After four songs or so they all put on ski masks and Jello Biafra joined them on stage. He is a one trick pony, it's a bloody good trick doing a Jonny Rotten style voice but with increadable control, but it really showed how versitile The Melvins are in comparison. I think that because Jello Biafra's style is so destinctive it is hard to seperate him from the Dead Kennedys, they finnished with Holliday in Cambodia which was great and they also did a cover of Wesley Willis' Rock and Roll McDonalds which was superb. All in all it was a great show but I wish I could have seen The Melvins on their own a bit longer.

Ah! I think the melvins are in the Top 5 most important rock bands of all time.

it's too bad i missed them this time around. :(
i don't like the first jello/melvins cd at all (haven't heard the new thing), so i didn't bend over backwards to get to the show. if i had known the melvins would be playing by themselves, i would have gone...
stupid thing for me to do since i love both the melvins and the (original) dead kennedys.

two winters ago on ski trips, me and my friends would scream kali-fornia uber alles from the chair lifts.
