I've set up a lofi-version of the radio, running at 32kbit
instead of 96kbit.

Please, MODEM-users try it out and let me know if it's
usable!

If you have the bandwidth, why not boost the hifi version to
112/128 or something?

i'm not totally against it, but for now 96 kbit is quite a
nice balance re: our bandwidth and quality.

Hence I asked if he had the bandwidth needed.

96 is a good choice. Thanx.

of course the quality is awful, but I've had requests in the
past to also make a lo-fi version available. just to ensure
modem-users at least have a chance to tune in and check out
what's going on.....

we have two parallell streams available: 96 kbit and 32
kbit.

so im asking again, is the lofi (32kbit) version usable for
you modem-freaks?

It was asked by Xeron if I remember correctly. Both of them
work here, obviously I'll always use the HIFI version
because I have a fast connection.

The Lowfi version has a bad quality naturally, but it is
really a nice idea for the people who have a slow connection
(maybe at home) better than nothing!

Up until fairly recently I was on 56k dial up and so the
only online stuff i could listen to was 32kbit, and its not
worth it. the difference in quality to 96 is shocking. 96
was enjoyable. 32 is far to squelchy for people to enjoy.

if your connection can't cope with good quality, don't
bother becase low quality is not an enjoyable experience and
is not representative of what the music should sound like
anyway.

I found with dial up that it was best not to bother,
besides broadband is becoming cheaper than dial up in most
places, so I think the 32kbit will not be used much as more
people get bb anyway.
