i reckon it's one of the most over rated albums going. It is largely toss even by pink floyds standards, i mean what's that song about roger waters needing a dirty woman about? it sounds like ZZ top. i used think their earlier stuff was much more interesting, now i think it's all cribbage. The madcap laughs is more entertaining.

I like Waters' voice... Wasn't he really the main singer?

i agree about the lots of filler. only a few tracks stand out for me, and definitely not enough to make it a "great album"...
it's the only pink floyd album i have but i found it quite deceiving.

i don't really think it's "filler" because the album is supposed to be a narrative. The "filler" tracks aren't meant to be hit singles as much as just a device to move the story along.
Basically like the Tom Bombadil chapters in LOTR, if i may nerd a bit here.

I dont pretend all the tracks to be hit singles... but the filler I talk about is cos thy are weak(bad) tracks for what they had been doing in the past.... actually some of the tracks in the wall are horrible in every aspect

never really got into Pink Floyd but think Money truly is a classic song, simply because of the quite brilliantly juxtaposed sounds at the beginning leading into the guitar riff. Love it!
From The Wall I enjoy listening to Another Brick in the Wall parts 1,2 and 3 and of course Comfortably Numb (so much better than the horrendous Scissor Sisters track which mutilated a song which was never intended to be a short dance single!).
Though I'm not really in a great position to shed much opinion on this album since I don't own it, from what I've heard it is pretty good, perhaps not as good as Dark Side of the Moon but decent nonetheless.
the animated video for 'Another Brick in the Wall' is excellent.

Definitely lots of filler. Narrative or not, too much of the music on there is sonically uninteresting. It's possible to move a story without using sonically uninteresting tracks. The story isn't great anyway.
Some awesome tunes on there though... it's cliche but Another Brick Part 2 is damn cool, it's worthy of being so popular. And Waiting for the Worms is one of my top 20 Floydtracks.

i prefer to watch the film as opposed to the album. hearing just the music feels like its deffinately missing something.
dark side, on the other hand.... probably the most expertly composed cohesive album of all time.
