Yeah I read that, they're not IDM, they hate Laptop music
and there are no mysteries to be unraveled in this album.

Mike: We were about 6 or 7 years old

that?

I think the tape is the source of all their kiddie voice
samples, which actually is Mike before he hit puberty.

i wish they wouldn't post pictures of people making this
music
i'd rather not put any type of face with this music
too personal

now that one of them got a daughter, they might go old

isn't hiding he fact that they were brothers, making a big
deal of it. I mean who cares really? If its all about the
music, then all this aloofness is pants. Same goes for the
rest.... ae, afx, pusher etc. I can understand privacy, but
at least call it that and stop trying to be all bleedin
anti-media about it.... unless its good craic doing it ...
which i suspect is the case. Everyone loves a bit of
mystery. But when you find out the mystery is engineered, it
becomes wanky.

Still its all about the music.

(I didn't even know orbital were brothers... and now that i
do, i don't care about that either.)

damn, they should have released a double album of electronic
tracks vs. guitar tracks.. instead of trying to blend the
two (unsuccessfully imo. guitar loop samples repeating the
same phrase ad nauseum is not creative). i bet i would have
liked the all-guitar disc more.

i dunno, i think it works really well.

we already have fourtet doing similar things...bpards have
put there spin on it. I wanna hear an acoustic MHTRTC!

Yeah, I'm sure it would've been much better. It's a shame
they're so afraid of taking risks.

"guitar loop samples repeating the
same phrase ad nauseum".. but boc are idm and woth all their
post-production efforts, repeated listens reveal more than
just that going on. I still hear new things on MHTRTC and
thats one of the treasures of BoC... seemingly samey,
actually depth-ridden

Mike: We also started working on an acoustic version of
Music Has the Right to Children years ago and it still
exists.

RELEASE THIS YOU FAGGOTS

I'm glad they debunked some of the myths about themselves
and their music.

I don't know why they're so worried about having guitar
tracks though, if you hear that untitled tape collection,
the guitar tracks fit in nicely, they maintain the same BOC
atmosphere. Maybe they should just have another alias to
release that side of their music, if they're that worried.

I think they are lying when it comes to hidden things in
their songs. I mean : there's TO MUCH EVIDENCES that they
don't just "make music". They are trying to fool us and to
play with their fans.

You can read anything into anything, I think they are
interested in certain things such as numerology and cults,
stick in samples for atmosphere, maybe play games with
references and track titles, but I wouldn't say they were
adovcating a lifestyle or subverting innocent IDM fans.

you must be right, but it seems they don't even want us to
think they are into these things and just make music like
evety other musicians

great interview, think its better than Wire and...

what a joke, they are not brothers! they always doing these
mind fucks!

Michael And Marcus stop it! these mind games :)

strange interview...better than the wire interview.

so Cocteau Twins want them to release stuff thats cool..and
why dont they release the electronic stuff under another
alias?

Fucking hell. They winge about the fanboy mythology that's
sprang up around them and now they've brought a whole new
are they/aren't they brothers thing into the equation.
That's gonna be kicking around the 'net for months. Smooth
move fellas.

and they're afraid people won't believe they made the music
if there's too much guitar in it, even if it has "BOARDS OF
CANADA" printed in some fuckugly type on the cover.

hahha, that sigur rós is guy is quite funny.

Pitchfork: When you hear that people enjoy falling asleep to
your music, do you take that as a compliment or an insult?

Sveinsson: I would take it as a compliment. I like the idea
that people have different views and feelings and opinions
about our music. But I think it's more because of the heat
or something.

Pitchfork: Maybe they were just so affected by the beauty of
your music that they just couldn't take it!

Sveinsson: Or maybe they didn't drink enough water!

Damn BOC interviews never mention anything about a BoCset or
A Few Old Tunes or the stuff they did before MHTRTC... they
should someday cover the whole deal and say what's all about
that.

But they gotta name it "BoCset". Its too obvious, a one in
a lifetime chance of having such a great name for something.
