maybe if you recast yourself as a "gangsta" people will
respond more favorably to your tunes.

also, "lady mosquito."

I don't think my music is shitty. I don't understand why
someone would bother wasting their time, if that's what they
thought of their own music. I make music that I want to
hear.

Also, could you post some of your music Tridenti? i am
curious to hear it.

such a moody prick about it.

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2005-09-23 09:20 [#01731520]

i listened to the track.

this brings to mind the flurry of electro funk that
surfaced in the mid nineties.

i'm somewhat ambivalent about it, sure it doesn't sound like
most stuff that gets posted here, but it's still derivative
and half-baked.
not a style i'm crazy about to begin with. it's not bad,
but you need more spunk in your funk.

even after listening, though, i have to stand by "lady
mosquito."

And everybody else said I used corny synth sounds....
Sorry, but I think Skeezer is kinda crappy. If it's supposed
to be crap (I did a track called Aphex Twin Is My Friend and
i WANTED it to sound bad) then I understand but if this is
trying to be a masterpiece, it could be much better.
If you want advice, ask.

offline futureimage from buy FIR from Juno (United Kingdom) on 2005-09-24 09:41 [#01732638]
Points: 6427 Status: Lurker

Ok, yep that's it. After listening to Microsoft Cribs YOU
NEED ADVICE
Stop using synths with only one oscillator. It sounds thin
and really doesn't make sense.
You need a bassline running through the whole of a track
(except for maybe a drum intro/solo/outro).
Stop using MIDIish drum samples and put some dynamics in
them (but not too much).
Start varying your sounds. Try some pads along with
short-decay saws. This should also make your songs longer
aswell.
Ok, that should be about it.

P.S:I don't mean to sound like a bastard cos you're one of
the few members that actually understands me on here.

offline swears from junk sleep on 2005-09-24 09:42 [#01732639]

The synth is meant to sound cheap and nasty. I dunno, I like
that kind of thing. I'm perfectly capable of making "clean"
sounds, I just don't want to.

The Sound Recorder Jam is very good though.

offline swears from junk sleep on 2005-09-24 09:45 [#01732643]
Points: 6474 Status: Lurker

Also, all the synths I used had two or three oscillators on
the go. I am currently working on a more "beefed up" track
at the moment, so maybe you'll like that.

Ok. Tell me when it's done and I'll listen.
Have you detuned the oscialltors?
BTW, you'll get a nice effect on the drums if you put them
through reverb and then through a (quite heavy) compressor.

sounds minimal and retro, which is fine because it seems
that was what you were aiming for. i like the effects you
are using on a lot on the sounds - good use of filtering.
but the track does seem "thin," as if it could sound
"broader." your strength seems to be filtering - try
emphasizing this.

yeah, just lay down the PHAT bassline throughout the track
and you'll be rockin' in no time flat.

second favorite. Nice tracks, sometimes i really enjoy
something that sounds simple.
