its the first time that a spanish can win this formula 1...
so we are happy

but I dont think thats being patriot...

congrats to alonso (he hasnt win yet, doesnt he?), but all
the spanish nationalist mediatic shit arround him sucks a
lot...

come on its not nationalist hip... its just that for the
first time people is enjoying formula1 in spain (and in
catalunya)

its just about sports... I dont think nobody used alonso for
politic propaganda or patriotic propaganda...

the same way people was so happy about criville, nadal,
indurain, sito pons, nieto, carlos saiz, gasol....

all great sportsmen and women (arancha, conchita...) that
make us feel nearer to success... which is stupid cos we are
not succeeding,.... they are, but not we... but no matter
that, people feel it as their own success and happiness...
just cos those heroes were born very near to them, speak
their own language and feel proud of that

its not about being a fascist spanish patriot... its about
sports

yeah, maybe im exagerating a lot... maybe its more a
publicity thing or something (telefonica - alonso -
spain)... dunno its like in spain doesnt exist nothing else,
noone else except alonso... now everyone loves f1, everyone
is blue and thats gonna a be an spanish victory, when only a
couple of years ago nobody gave a fuck about f1, even when
marc gene or de la rose were there...
dunno, i know im making it bigger than what it is, but
theres some things i cannot stand, specially about the image
and speeching tele5 or antena3 are selling...

I get what you mean melack, we had the same with ski jumping
when Adam Malysz started winning. It was impossible to watch
a peaceful Malysz-free hour of TV. Not that there was any
nationalistic stuff, no, but everybody became a ski-jumping
fan all of a sudden.
The same with the Pope goddamit. Sometimes I would just like
to leave and never come back.

people follow alons and not marc gene or de la rosa cos the
maximum they ever did was a 5th position in a race... he has
won 7 races already in his life and he is gonna win the
championship... I think its normal that people get hooked
now and not then

now I love to see tour the france, but not until indurain I
watched this or la vuelta

I watch tennis due to arancha and sergi brugera

this is normal and human... cos people want to feel success
near them... to feel it as theirs... absolutely human

thats why anybody in spain is from their team (albacete,
zaragoza, cadiz...) and after that they cheer for barça or
madrid, cos they want to feel success too

in another note:
I watch formula 1 since alonso is in the scene, but I also
watched some when gene and de la rosa started

I think people in catalunya htink that all we do in spain is
directed to our patriotism, and I assure you not

some people do, but not most

i get what you say, and i understand and share it, nac...
but i just dont like how tv's are selling it, the mentallity
behind all that, nationalist stuff and how people are eating
and following it... (we also do that with our things in
catalonia, and sometimes we are even worse, and i also hate
it, but we have maybe a more comprehensible reason and we do
it in a selfconcient way)

yo todavia creo que Montoya sera Campeon Mundial, por lo
menos una vez en su vida. Mejor Alonso que Raikkonen :P.

montoya is a genious, but he takes tooo many risks

he is a kamikaze when he wants to pass another car

one of the guys that makes this sport a big thing

raikoonen is said to be cold as ice... but I think the
really rational guy here is alonso, very intelligent

If you never take a risk you'll never get anywhere, although
he shouldn't of let Raikonnen pass him at Spa. Raikonnen has
no hope of winning against Alonso. I want Montoya to win at
Interlagos again and beat Raikonnen like he did last year.
Raikonnen is the most uninspiring driver i've ever seen, no
personality whatso ever,; a robot would do his job better.

Congratulations Alonso on winning :D!

mc laren is the best car... so this gives alonso more merit
for his success

Mc laren wasn't the best in the beginning

it was the fastest as it is now... but it broke lots of
times... as it does now

but montoya was injured in the begining

in san marino (4th race) raikonen was leading the race very
easily but his car broke and wurz 8third pilot) was finally
third that day... so pretty much since the begining mclaren
was up there, simply not as regular as renault which broke
very few times, and only to fizziquela

If F1 was a more level playing field, it would be so
exciting. Imagine Arrows coming back and Minardis fighting
with Ferraris.

F1 is a lot to do with luck, in theory Mclaren should have
won both chiampionships. At least it's a hispanic whose
breaking the 7 time Schumacher streak.

F1 has a lot to do with money too :/ But that's life and I
think it's a shame that all the new rules are cutting down
the creativity. I want those 6 wheeled monsters from the
seventies ;)

We have to ask our selves, "is safety really that
important?"

The new rules are also there to make things more equal. It's
no coincidence all cars look the same these days.
