between tracks?

I'm with redrum.

If Apple would actually release the SDK then there'd be a
shitload more firmwares for the iPod which might actually
mean being able to show different information on the screen.
The software really needs updating. It's so fucking limited.

it's buggy as hell too, do you have the same problem where
it just crashes every so often (ie VERY FREQUENTLY) and you
have to reset the motherfucker? so annoying

i think its really good that the software is this simple and
fast...but thats one major complaint ive got...its utterly
annoying!

Yep. I actually had a massive problem where it stopped
letting me listening to music. I managed to solve it by
completly formatting it and installing a new firmware. It
just suddenly decided to stop connecting with my computer
and to reset itself a lot whilst getting very hot. I've
actually got a box here so I can send it back to be fixed. I
managed to sort it before I did though. I'm keeping the box
and sending it when it does break.

the only way to avoid gaps in tracks is to join the tracks
before importing

advanced>join tracks.

if youre THAT bothered about it, record the whole cd as one
track using something like wiretap
you wont be able to skip tracks, but you can always fast
forward pretty easily.

giginger. when you say it stopped letting you listen to
music what do you mean exactly? i have a prob with mine
where the sound will just disappear yet the track keeps
going, eg no sound but the track time is still running on,
then once it gets to the next track the sound is back again.

I don't have that problem. It would just jitter and shit.
Sometimes the whole thing would just freeze. Display and
sound = nothing. Fucking annoying. I recommen the complete
wipe and new firmware.

yes, i tested the trial version and it looked great. worked
like a charm except the limitation of just one file transer
each time. it does exactly like you said. drag-and-drop.

much hassle and slow as fuck.

You'll all have to do as Bob says and join the tracks
together in iTunes until Apple pulls it's finger out and
updates the firmware. It is very annoying.

I use PodWorks to access the mp3s on my iPod, it's just a
Mac app, but it's great, copies Playlists too.

So which of the portable HDD/Chip players can do
gapless playback? I'm after one that'll do that, plus
record/playback some lossless formats (even if it's pcm wav)
as well as mp3
