yo,

any chance for the 24-hour streaming to be intersparsed with
those that want to "dj" live?

i reckon that'd be rad.

(also, phobes, why shoutcast, and not icecast? the shoutcast
binary is old as hell, and icecast has some super neat
additions.)

from!

heh, that's answered here:

d'oh. should read closer :-)

again phobes, you need relays or a hand, sing out - i've
done commercial streaming (video/audio) for years, adding
another icecast/shoutcast installation to one of my boxes
won't be a problem.

any chance of acting as the main source, providing a 128kbit
stream, and xlt providing 96?

not really an ideal way to do it. a re-encoded song off
phobes music store (which might already be a mp3), converted
to streaming 128kbit, then converted down to 96kbit is going
to sound like ass. but, sure, possible.

i heavily lean towards ogg these days - at low bitrate, it
really, really rocks, and is incredibly bandwidth-friendly;
a mono 64kbit 44khz stream sounds better than the current
96kbit , and is something like 1/4 the bandwidth.

pretty much every player these days will decode it fine,
too, so the once issue of no support is pretty much non
existent.

watm errr, XLT radio is great. it would
be great to hear some regular shows, so long as they dont
all play the same old mix of just the big electronic
artists.

i hate to be the one to point this out as not to draw
attention to it, but isn't the version of shoutcast you're
running open to a number of remote exploits (you're running
1.9.2, 1.9.5 is out and fixes a number of bugs)?

(sooner or later, somebody might try something stupid.)
