They aren't saying "OR tecker" for fucks sake.

It's "Aw" as in "awesome", "austria", "australia", "ought",
just with a British accent.

I had an idea that Autechre's name might come from
Audio Technological Research.

I say had an idea, I mean, I read this on the internet about
ten years ago.

i like the idea of it being a composition of audio and

that is what autechre claim. Although whether or not it
works is up to the listener. I didn't notice anything that
sounds similar to audio-architecture untill chiastic slide.

ararararr!

"Autechre pronounce their name as 'autecker'. Sean Booth
explains that the name came about when the duo were working
on an Atari. "The first two letters were intentional,
because there was an 'au' sound in the track, and the rest
of the letters were bashed randomly on the keyboard. We had
this track title for ages, and we had written it on a
cassette, with some graphics. It looked good, and we began
using it as our name."
"

Interesting!

'6IE.CR' was actually called '606IE,' because it was
based on a manipulation of a 606 sound. 'Reniform' is a real
word, meaning kidney-shaped, and 'Puls' of course is 'Pulse'
without the 'e'. 'Surripere' is the Latin word that's the
root of 'surreptitious'. And in 'Theme of Sudden
Roundabout', 'Sudden' is actually the name of a place."

I sometimes wonder if people intentionally forget about that
article (it's been posted many times before) because it
demystifies autechre...
