Arre they classed as emo? I don't get the emo tag, maybe
they arre maybe they'rre not, I don't carre.

I bought Pinkerton on a whim and I rreally like it. Therre's
something rrefrreshing forr me perrsonally (even though
maybe everryone is tirred of it) to listen to songs that
arre angsy and a bit self-indulgent. Prrobably because I go
out of my way to avoid it. What makes me listen to this
rrecorrd though is just that it's so well executed.

don't think they are, emo is more like post-hardcore music.
Their fans don't wear dodgy makeup or dress all in black do
they? Stuff by the likes of HIM and Funeral for a Friend
which had a backing vocalist screaming and a main vocalist
singing to offset the sound is usually classed as Emo...

...Weezer are more of a pop-punk band like Blink 182 I think
(?) The only song I've heard is 'Beverly Hills'

what is Emo? is nickelback and shit like that Emo?

Until now Emo to me has been stuff like Explosions in the
sky and Godspeed you! Black emperor.

they're like, the pioneers of emo. dig the glasses.

"Weezer" (the blue album) is absolutely amazing. There's not
a bad track on it at all. Stunning album.

They've made some absolutely poppy crass since though.

pinkerton and the blue album are absolute classics, I grew
up on that stuff.

"They've made some absolutely poppy crass since though."

yeah I'm not a fan of anything past pinkerton, but I still
love them, maybe because of the nostalgia factor?

totally, i'm the same, i still have great respect for them.

Too many people associate them with shite like "Hash pipe"
and .. that just makes me wretch tbh. Their old stuff was so
brilliant. What oh what went wrong :/

weezer is so not fucking emo. the best term ive heard to
describe them is nerd-rock. either that, or straight up
alternative. but so not emo.

"bought Pinkerton on a whim "

Anus_Presley i am ashamed. no double r in Pinkerton!!!

i dont think he puts the double 'r' in proper nouns, as a
rule.

I haven't heard their newest one yet. But, Blue is such a
great album, and Pinkerton is good too, but to a lesser
degree.

That other video was absolute shite too.

That would explain why the 'r' in his name isn't doubled.

weezer have never been emo (i'm not sure about their new
album). they've always been commercial pop-rock (nerd rock
is apt but leaves out the POP element of their music, which
is critical when describing them). but they predate
mainstream emo by nearly a decade.

it's kind of telling how Pinkerton was their one
artistic-freedom album, their one chart-disaster, and in my
opinion, their best. after the commercial failure of that
record, rivers went "insane"/goth for a year and came out
deciding he didn't give a shit about art anymore and has
intentionally made intensely commercial music since then.
and when i say intentionally in this case, i mean he went
and compiled a database of hit songs and studied them and
created formulas for writing hit commercial pop songs.

though.

I loveeee this album!!!!

It's so fun!!

My favorite song is "the good life"

But the whole album is just so GOOD...And yes they are emo.
If you like this album you'll definetly love their blue
album, "WEEZER" SElf-Titled, the one with "buddy holly" oh
man theres "the sweater song" thats FABULOUS and my favorite
on that album is "My Name is Jonas"

amazon-give a listen

blue is pretty much just as good songwise, but i prefer
pinkerton due to the heaviness and concept of it.

the lyrics on pinkerton are wonderfully sick and desperate.

i haven't listened to weezer in about three or four years,
though.

I like the breeziness of the blue album, but how it also is
quite melancholy ("world has turned and left me here", for
example) and generally has a lot of heart, which, for some
reason, the green album really misses.

in anything past that. the new album is something i don't
want to listen to.
