Before he got into wanky easy listening classical music he
was a god. Heaven and Hell, yay.

I used to listen to the Bladerunner soundtrack all the time.
I bought his other stuff but never really got into it.

i just borrowed five or six cds of his (including "heaven
and hell") from my brother in law, it's all a little too
cheesy for my tastes...

Ah well. I can understand why you may say that, but I don't
find his stuff cheesy...it's either musically complex and
exciting or beautiful and calm sounding. I guess it can
sound cheesy compared to what is common these days.

People also find the early Jean Michel Jarre albums cheesy
(Oxygene, Equinox) and I could never understand that.

vangelis is the shit. i have a few of his albums, picked up
'heaven & hell' at a used record store & love it, and i have
a really early vangelis album Hypothesis which is really
trippy. the blade runner sound track is ace. he's the true
analord and a man after my own heart in terms of
production/creation of music.

I've always enjoyed the Bladerunner soundtrack, its a
masterpiece. I had a few vangelis retrospective
transmissions from hearts of space and those were amazing.

I'm especially amazed at how he does his tracks (well, a lot
of them.)

He simply sets up all the effects and synthesizers, and
jumps from thing to thing and improvises the tracks. Of
course there's overdubbing, but watching him do his stuff is
amazing. Some of his albums were practically done in a few
takes.
