What song would you like played at your funeral?

I would have Tools-Epitaph for when people walked in and the
theme from "I dream of Jeanie" as my coffin is taken
away/burned.

Morbid, I know!!!

Well there's that classic funeral song by chopin, I forget
what's it's called. It's like THE funeral song...

aaaargh...i hate 'take a picture' but filter is fairly good.
their first cd is the best. anyway, i'd probably would've
made my own composition before i died and have it played.

At my friends funeral about a year ago his sister but
together the music to be played, and she really did a great
job.
The music was all music he liked, and more than appropriate
for the situation.

I remember some of the songs I recognized were Moby -
Porcelain, Floyd -Wish you were here, something by Enigma
that I can't remember, and she even spliced the first 3:30
minutes of Acrid Avid Jam Shred in during a picture film she
made.

"24 Hours" -Joy Division

then "Dark Globe" by Syd Barrett

followed by...

"Stone in Focus" Aphex

then... track 4 from CD2 of Drukqs, leaving the crowd in an
unsatisfactory mournful uneasiness

then two minutes of silence....

then as they walk out, 'Straight outta Compton" by N.W.A.

Yeah. My mother has actually put me in charge of her funeral
songs. She's left it to my discretion, but she's requested
three songs.

Banco de Gaia - Last Train To Lhasa (upbeat but poignant)

Portishead - Theme from "To Kill A Dead Man" (pretty
depressed stuff)

and finally, and I'm not kidding here...

Polygon Window - Quoth.

Man, I can't wait to hear Quoth played at the crematorium.

Uh... no hurry though.

a videotape of me singing Simply The Best complete with
mocking gestures to the congregation.

Actually some drill and bass would be nice. It would create
one of the weirdest atmospheres ever.

'Everything In Its Right Place' wouldn't be a bad choice i
think - but no, anyway i wouldn't want so much to have music
for my funeral, because then people would be reminded of my
funeral whenever they hear the songs which were played...
that would be annoying! it would distort/"rape" these songs,
in a way, forever, for the people who attended the funeral
and cared a bit.

i do not want this.
and music is more important than me.

(plus i don't want people to remember my own death that
much... =P)

"some drill and bass would be nice. It would create one
of the weirdest atmospheres ever."

> it would just seem out of place in my opinion... not
really "weird". just not fitting. (IMHO)

i think a weird ambiance for a funeral would be... playing
some "lowercase music" (Bernhard Günter, etc.) very loud,
without telling anyone that a music was playing and over the
blah-blah speeches of people (you know, "he'll be greatly
missed", biography of the person, religious stuff and other
sempiternal crap etc.) - people would hear these weird
noises and wonder where it come from, maybe some would freak
out and think of a ghost... (maybe =))
