Music personal to you

If you were to give one album/ep/piece of music to a person
or group of people that you were not likely to see in the
future (because of moving somewhere, leaving school etc.) as
a gift to remind them of you, what would it be?

I'm finishing school this year, I'm thinking of giving an
actual copy of BoC's "In A Beautiful Place Out In The
Country" to a number of friends and teachers who have given
me support/friendship/help etc, as just a friendly token...

What music do you consider personal to you?

That's a joke. Maybe I Care Because You Do by Aphex
Twin... fitting for me I think; that is the music and the
title.

If anybody gave me any of those god fucking awful albums I
would shove them right back in their faces and think "thank
fuck they're going away". sigur ros - fucking hell.

alva noto is definately a good one. If you like it, it can
become more of a personal experience than music (perfect for
nights alone in poor lighting). But a lot of people don't
seem to like it.

Alva noto + Opiate is a good one, because opiate cleans the
rough corners off of alva noto, and alva noto adds stronger
presence to alva noto. (unfortunately, I didn't like
vrioon.. it seemed to cycle around without any direction).

I would just make them personalized mix cd's.

i'd probably make a compilation for every individual, but if
it had to be an album it would most likely be drukqs.

Hmm, I think it would have to be some of my own music that I
have been holding back for the last year trying to finish to
a good standard. I suppose that would be the only music
that truely reflects me.

The Soft Boys
The Free Design
Harry Nilsson
Freescha
Curt Boetcher
Tuxedomoon

I've done a lot of vigorous unofficial advertising for these
artistes across the internets, including here, a bit. In the
same way that a lot of stuff I listen now makes me think of
the people that got me into them initially, I think many
people do/will remember me when they listen to these, long
after my fatal car accident.

it would probably be my cd id be giving to people, as i
already do that anyway, but if i had to choose an album to
make people think of me it would probably be:

chris clark - clarence park - playful happy good melodies
but hardass beats and fuzzy production.

I actually did that to somebody that was (and still is) very
important to me. I gave her "The Essential Bob Dylan" 2CD
album. It's like 30 masterpieces.
