HA!!

idm

"This is the oddest named genre in the entire world, since
it's not easily danceable, it's not certifiably intelligent,
and it's arguable as to whether it constitutes as actual
music. This is the realm of the uber-pretentious electronic
music afficionados, with razor-thin eclectic tastes, who
spend most of their waking energy arguing about what IDM is
and what IDM isn't."

he really overextends his reach of expertise and attempts to
make up for it by providing his incredibly snobby elitist
guesses about what something might be. he's really fucking
obnoxious and doesn't know what he's talking about when it
comes to musique concrete, for instance. this isn't a good
guide - it's some nerd's opinions on all this different
music. he shouldn't give his opinions at all, much less for
music he doesn't understand.

half of it is jokey.

the main point of it is that it provides examples along with
the genres. therefore it's useful.

i get the "jokes". the jokes are misleading and lame, imo.
if you're going to make a historical guide, you must strive
for objectivity. i would rather read a clinical, dry text
with only facts rather than somebody's "entertaining"
opinions.

obviously it's not a historical guide.

if people want accurate descriptions of genres they could go
to wikipedia.

and let's not debate the accuracy of wikipedia's articles.
