Looks Fucking Dark, No?

Does anyone have any info/expectations of this? Is it out
next year?

They've been saying next year for a while. This new UI
better be fucking good! They've removed WinFS too which is a
shitter as it sounded interesting.

My prediction is that it'll be a good OS.

With how long their release cycle is, if they screw up badly
it'd be 2010 before they could redeem themselves, and that's
too long.

They'll probably release a quality product... that being
said, I think Windows XP is the best consumer OS they've
ever released, and I like it pretty good.

If they release it next year I'll probably get around to
using it in 2 or 3 years. I like to stay behind on
whatever's been service-packed until it works properly. I
only just switched to XP from Win2K because the new version
of Reaktor is going to need XP.

XP is okay if you turn off the flashy stuff that was put
there to wow the yokels. I hope Longhorn will be the same...
non-singing non-dancing options for power users.

yikes, the projected recommended system requirements are a
bit steep. my new laptop (2 months old) is only a centrino
1.6ghz and that article recommends a 1.86 pentium M 750. i
do have the 533 fsb though... hmmm.. hmm!

yeah i just recently upgraded to XP since i came preloaded
on my laptop. i turned off a helluva lot of bells and
whistles and now i'm quite happy. granted, a lot of those
bells and whistles were Toshiba manufacturer installed
gimmikky crapper-ware!
