I've figured out Autechre...

...they make music by committee, and the votes in recent
years have been for more experimental stuff...how can you go
from achingly beautiful music to clanky, relatively soulless
noise...?

(I mean, fair enough if they never had a tune in them...but
listen again to stuff like Cichli and Clipper and compare it
to more recent stuff) :-(

Listen to the first two minutes and twenty seconds of
Reniform Puls and you are provern to be wrong!

I sure hope so...can't hear it till June though :-(

(Seriously, I can just imagine a committee sitting round
passing "experimental motions" and so on)

It was actually the last song of Draft 7.30

It was actually the worst song of Draft 7.30

Ah, thought it sounded familiar :-/ That'll be cos I left
Draft in the UK when choosing what to bring here...guess
which Ae albums I did bring though ;-)

Let me guess. I get three

LP5
Amber
Tri Repete

(I don't really like their old stuff. I like the clunky
stuff, when it has nice sounding noises... beautifull music
+ neat, edgy sound design is what I like the most)

Tri Repetae, of course, it's the best Ae album and anyone
who doesn't recognise this should be publicly tarred and
feathered...

Amber, yup indeed...

Third CD was in fact Chiastic Slide, I brought Incunabula on
tape...

I just find tri repete to be a bit boring.

EP7 is still my favorite ae. A close second would be cichle
suite, then Draft 7.30 then Chiastic Slide.

:-) People who use the term "sucks" should be reviled as
Yank-influenced, if not actually Yanks ;-)

I don't actively dislike Draft, I'm just lucky enough to be
able to comfortably think of 250-odd albums that are better
:-)

Tri Repetae...is...boring??? Well they say it takes all
kinds!

What are your thoughts on Incunabula and Amber....?

And if Cichli isn't the best Autechre track, what is?
Clipper? Dael? Cipater?

Who made Incunabula? Who made Amber? Who made Tri Repetae?
Who made the achingly beautiful masterpiece that is Cichli?

(Plus I chose this avatar from a page by morton (is he still
around btw?) and have no idea how to change it) ;-)

while and I don't want to.

except for maybe hafler trio collab and some two schematic
related remixes i found long time ago via KaZaA and do not
have them now so i can't listen to them.

i am glad i didnt make this thread, because otherwise many
poisonous tomatoes would have been thrown at me.

I like older Ae for the atmospheres+funkyness (well, funky
in a weird way) and new albums for the sound design and beat
fuckery. My favorite album is Chiastic Slide coz it combines
the two best imo.

I think I love every one of ae's works that I've heard...

You'll say I'm slow though, because I only got Draft 7.30
last week(!) I never got around to it before, for one reason
or another. What with Untilted coming up, thought it was
time ;)

I'm still digesting it, but it seems pretty nice. You can't
deny the fact that they are very talented musicians.

I reckon you can force yourself to like anything. That isn't
a diss to anyone, it's just something I reckon is true
(once, on a long boat ride I was fucking bored that I began
to listen to the crazy engine noises, and eventually I
actually enjoyed the racket. No, it's true.)

but thats when you had no choice. you cant force yourself to
like/listen to an album you hate if you have a big pile of
albums you love right next to you...

merg off Draft 7.30 is fucking excellent. Anyone who thinks
otherwise needs there fucking ears cleaned out with a blunt
toothpick. Maybe if people around here listened to the
stuff on decent stereo's off the actual cd they'd know what
they are talking about but most people listen to mp3's on
there shitty PC speakers.

ps: I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but you know what
I mean

... actually it does serve a purpose, occasionally, and
sometimes i enjoy it at that bitrate (as ive recently
discovered)

but yes, ae needs high bitrate.
